Prime Video has released the official trailer for Drawn Together, but fans expecting a revival of the Comedy Central animated series with the same name may be surprised. The upcoming original movie is not connected to the animated show. Instead, it is an adaptation of Mercedes Ron’s popular Enfrentados duology, which consists of the novels Drawn Together and Drawn Apart.
Ron is no stranger to Prime Video adaptations. Her previous works include the successful My Fault franchise and Tell Me Softly.
Drawn Together centers on Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a wealthy Spanish business tycoon. After she is kidnapped and later released under mysterious circumstances, her father hires Sebastian Moore, an enigmatic bodyguard tasked with keeping her safe.
As Marfil and Sebastian spend more time together, their professional relationship gradually develops into something more. The pair travel to Spain while facing a series of unexpected dangers that put their growing romance to the test.
The trailer offers a look at Marfil’s life in New York before and after her kidnapping. Once Sebastian is assigned to protect her, the two begin spending more time together at her apartment. Sebastian teaches Marfil how to defend herself, and she eventually asks him to train her so she can become stronger. Their training sessions soon lead to undeniable romantic tension.
The trailer also shows Sebastian stepping in to protect Marfil during a party before the pair find themselves targeted by unknown attackers.
Despite the movie’s connection to Ron’s novels, some fans have taken to the official trailer’s comments section to express their confusion over the title, with several mistakenly expecting a revival of Comedy Central’s Drawn Together animated series.
The upcoming movie will adapt the first book in Ron’s duology, while a sequel based on Drawn Apart is already in development. Both films are produced by Pokeepsie Films, with Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang serving as producers. Óscar Pedraza directs from a screenplay by Sofía Cuenca.
Ester Expósito and Hugo Diego García lead the cast as Marfil and Sebastian, respectively. The supporting cast includes Eric Masip, Pablo Molinero, Zoe Bonafonte, Lluís Homar, and Joaquín Ferreira.
Drawn Together premieres September 9, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
