Paul Ben-Victor Joins Vince Vaughn’s ‘The Bookie & The Bruiser’

After raising the stakes in last weekend’s episode of HBO Max/DC’s Lanterns, Paul Ben-Victor is already moving on to his next major project.

The actor has wrapped filming on The Bookie & The Bruiser, the upcoming crime drama starring Vince Vaughn, Theo James and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Ben-Victor takes on the role of the film’s primary antagonist, mob boss Generale Francesco Viscuzo.

Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, known for Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99, the film is set in New York City in 1959. The story follows Rivner (James), a pensive Jewish man, and Boscolo (Vaughn), a larger-than-life Italian-American tough guy. Both are World War II veterans who return home to find that they no longer fit comfortably into the lives they once knew.

The pair eventually join forces, with Rivner operating as a bookmaker and Boscolo serving as his enforcer. Their illicit gambling business quickly becomes profitable, but their success comes with a dangerous price. They soon find themselves caught in the middle of a violent power struggle between the Mafia and an Irish gang, forcing the unlikely partners to fight for their survival.

Schwarzenegger takes on dual roles in the film, playing twin brothers Augie and Bernard.

The movie is produced by Oscar winner Anthony Katagas (12 Years a SlaveAd Astra) through Keep Your Head Productions, alongside Dave Caplan (LonglegsThe Monkey), Dan Bekerman and Vaughn. C2 Motion Picture Group is fully financing the project.
