BLACKPINK superstar LISA is set to take audiences behind the scenes of her remarkable rise as a solo artist with the upcoming documentary Always Lalisa, which will receive a limited worldwide theatrical release this October.
Sony Music Vision has announced that the feature-length documentary will arrive in IMAX and cinemas internationally from October 12, with Trafalgar Releasing handling the global theatrical engagement. Following its cinema run, the film will stream exclusively on YouTube Premium later this year.
Tickets for the theatrical release will go on sale September 9 via the official Always Lalisa website.
Directed by Sue Kim, Always Lalisa chronicles a defining period in the artist’s life as she temporarily stepped away from BLACKPINK and embarked on a year of independence. The documentary explores the immense expectations surrounding her transition into a solo career, her ambitions as an actor and entrepreneur, and her attempts to maintain a sense of normality away from the constant attention of the global spotlight.
The film arrives at a particularly significant moment in LISA’s career. Having established herself as one of the world’s biggest K-pop stars as a member of BLACKPINK, she has continued to expand her reach across music, fashion, film and television.
Her growing list of achievements includes a solo performance at Coachella in 2025, an appearance at the 2026 Met Gala as the first K-pop artist to serve on its host committee, and her presentation duties at the 2026 Golden Globes. She also made her acting debut as Mook in the third season of HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus.
LISA is also preparing for her next chapter in film, having announced that she will star in and executive produce Netflix action movie TYGO, while also developing an untitled romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill.
Her music career continues to move at full speed as well. LISA recently announced her upcoming EP PRESS PLAY, which is scheduled for release on October 23. The project will be preceded by the single “SaWaDika,” arriving September 3.
Meanwhile, the singer is preparing to make history in Las Vegas with her VIVA LA LISA residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The four performances, scheduled for November 13, 14, 27 and 28, reportedly sold out in less than 10 minutes, making LISA the first K-pop artist to stage a Las Vegas residency.
“Always Lalisa” will offer fans a more personal perspective on the woman behind the global superstar, documenting the pressures and excitement that accompanied one of the most important transitions of her career.
Sony Music Vision president Tom Mackay said the company hopes the documentary will create the same connection between LISA and her fans that her music has achieved around the world.
Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby similarly described the film as an opportunity for BLINKS to experience and celebrate LISA’s journey together on the big screen.
The documentary will first have its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival before heading into cinemas worldwide on October 12.
After its theatrical engagement, Always Lalisa will become available globally through YouTube Premium later this year.
With LISA continuing to expand beyond music and into acting, fashion and business, Always Lalisa promises an intimate look at the determination, ambition and personal challenges behind one of K-pop’s most recognizable global figures.
Tickets for the cinema release go on sale September 9, with further theatrical information and cinema listings to be announced through the official Always Lalisa website.
