Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for TYSON, a new four-part documentary series that takes an unfiltered look at the extraordinary life and complicated legacy of boxing icon Mike Tyson.
Directed by Floyd Russ, the upcoming docuseries explores Tyson’s journey from his difficult childhood in Brooklyn to becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history at just 20 years old. While his incredible success inside the ring made him a global superstar, the series also examines the personal struggles and controversies that followed his rise to fame.
The trailer combines archival footage from throughout Tyson’s career with new interviews, allowing the former champion to reflect on some of the most significant and difficult chapters of his life.
Among the subjects explored are Tyson’s rapid rise to boxing greatness, his battles with addiction, time in prison, financial difficulties, public controversies and the infamous 1997 incident involving Evander Holyfield.
Rather than simply revisiting Tyson’s sporting achievements, TYSON appears to focus heavily on the man behind the public image. Tyson openly reflects on the person he became during his years of fame and acknowledges what he describes as his darker side.
The documentary also features conversations with people close to Tyson, offering additional perspectives on his life, relationships and transformation over the years. Netflix describes the series as a deeply personal examination of the choices, pressures and consequences that have shaped his legacy.
The trailer also captures an emotional side of Tyson as he attempts to make sense of his past and the impact that his experiences have had on his identity.
With four hour-long episodes, the series promises to go beyond the familiar headlines and boxing highlights to explore Tyson’s life from multiple perspectives, including his own.
TYSON premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 13, 2026.
Netflix is also set to release Mike Tyson: Return of the Mike, a filmed one-man comedy special, on November 3. Directed by Tyson’s wife, Kiki Tyson, the special will see the former heavyweight champion reflect on his life through comedy.
