Brad Pitt is back as one of his most memorable characters, with Netflix unveiling the official trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the highly anticipated follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Directed by David Fincher and written by Tarantino, the new film once again puts Pitt in the shoes of Cliff Booth, but this time the setting has moved forward to 1977 — eight years after the events of the original film.
While Cliff is no longer working alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, he certainly hasn’t left Hollywood’s more dangerous corners behind.
The trailer introduces a very different chapter in Booth’s life. He is now working as a projectionist and taking on jobs as a “studio fixer”, using his particular set of skills to solve problems that Hollywood’s elite would rather keep away from the police.
Things quickly become complicated when Cliff is contacted by Karen Cosby, the agent of television star Charlie Peters. With Peters seemingly caught up in a dangerous situation, Cliff is brought into another chaotic Hollywood mystery.
From there, the trailer offers a fast-paced glimpse at the world surrounding Booth, featuring criminals, violence, money, car chases and plenty of the unpredictable energy fans would expect from a story connected to Tarantino.
There is even a nod to one of the most talked-about moments from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with the trailer revisiting the story of Cliff’s infamous encounter with Bruce Lee.
One particularly intriguing moment shows Cliff apparently attempting to dispose of a body by placing it inside the trunk of his car, suggesting his latest assignment may be considerably more dangerous than his previous work.
But perhaps the trailer’s biggest surprise comes in its final moments, when Cliff is asked about his history working as Rick Dalton’s stunt double.
His explanation for their professional relationship coming to an end is characteristically blunt: Rick had “got too fat” for Cliff to double him anymore.
While Rick Dalton will not return for the new film, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth brings together an impressive ensemble alongside Pitt. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, JB Tadena, Matt Groove, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian all feature, while Timothy Olyphant reprises his role as James Stacy.
Fincher reunites with Pitt following their previous collaborations on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, giving the project an intriguing combination of Fincher’s filmmaking style and Tarantino’s distinctive screenplay.
The film is also set to give audiences a theatrical opportunity before its streaming debut. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will arrive exclusively in IMAX cinemas on November 25, 2026, before premiering globally on Netflix on December 23, 2026.
With Pitt once again stepping into the role that earned him an Academy Award for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Fincher taking the reins from Tarantino as director, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth looks set to take Cliff into an entirely new chapter of Hollywood mayhem.
