A24 has unveiled a new trailer for You Can See Everything, the highly anticipated documentary centered on former Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival earlier this month, where it drew strong reactions from critics.
The documentary follows Holmes during the weeks leading up to her imprisonment and the period that followed. Its official synopsis teases an unusually intimate look at the disgraced Silicon Valley entrepreneur:
“Thirty-four days before she’s sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move. What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss.”
The newly released trailer begins with Fielder questioning Holmes about her role in the Theranos scandal. When he asks whether she truly believes she did nothing wrong, Holmes responds firmly that she did not. Fielder then asks where everything went wrong, prompting Holmes to admit that she does not feel she understands what happened.
Fielder also turns his attention to Holmes’ husband, Billy Evans, questioning whether he has ever suspected that she lied to him. Evans confidently responds that he never has. As the conversation continues, however, Fielder suggests that there may be more to the story than he is being told. Holmes, meanwhile, maintains that she has nothing to hide, delivering the assurance with an intense stare directly into the camera.
Holmes founded Theranos at just 19 after dropping out of Stanford University. The company claimed its technology could revolutionize medical testing by performing a wide range of blood tests using only a small sample obtained from a finger prick. Its proprietary technology, known as the Edison device, became central to the company’s ambitious claims.
Theranos eventually came under intense scrutiny following a series of investigative reports by The Wall Street Journal in 2015. The revelations triggered investigations into the company’s technology and business practices, ultimately leading to Holmes being convicted of four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with defrauding investors. She was sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison.
In 2023, Holmes invited Fielder to document her life beginning 34 days before she reported to prison, with filming continuing for a period afterward. The footage eventually became You Can See Everything, offering an extended and unconventional look at Holmes and her life following the collapse of Theranos.
You Can See Everything is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 16, 2026.
