Arizona-bred, Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist Piper Connolly has officially entered a new chapter with the release of her vibrant new six-track EP, she’s too much!, available now across digital platforms.
Arriving as a confident and colourful introduction to Connolly’s evolving artistry, the EP brings together pop-rock energy, emotional storytelling and an unapologetic sense of individuality. Alongside the release, Connolly has also unveiled a new music video for the EP’s latest single, “bubblegum with razorblades.”
The six-track project features “beautiful life,” “bubblegum with razorblades,” “better than this,” “joyride,” “body bag” and “unapologetic,” creating a collection that moves between romance, heartbreak, empowerment and the excitement of simply being yourself.
Produced by Esjay Jones, known for her work with artists including Billy Corgan and Dave Navarro, alongside Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft, whose credits include Gwen Stefani and Machine Gun Kelly, the EP was mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Nathan Dantzler of The Hit Lab, whose work includes Sabrina Carpenter and Teddy Swims. Recorded in Los Angeles, the project brings together a polished pop-rock sound with the personal experiences behind Connolly’s songwriting.
At the centre of the release is “bubblegum with razorblades,” a song Connolly describes as representing the heart of the entire project. The track explores the contrast between appearing sweet and approachable while possessing a much sharper side underneath. For Connolly, the song grew out of the experience of being hurt, judged or having someone attempt to rewrite her story. Rather than giving those people continued power or attention, the song finds strength in choosing to move forward.
That combination of sweetness and attitude is also reflected in the EP’s overall identity. she’s too much! embraces the idea of refusing to apologise for taking up space. Connolly’s message throughout the project is one of self-acceptance — being loud, having fun and embracing every part of who you are.
The EP’s opening track, “beautiful life,” provides a more carefree introduction to that world. Built around deep grooves and Connolly’s versatile vocals, the song captures the excitement of falling for someone while also appreciating the bigger picture of life itself. Connolly has described the track as feeling like herself “bottled up in a song,” with an energy that makes you want to roll the windows down and simply enjoy the moment.
Elsewhere, “body bag” brings a considerably more aggressive edge to the collection. Driven by garage-inspired production, the song was written from Connolly’s experience of dealing with a friendship that left her feeling drained and insignificant. Instead of allowing that experience to define her, the track transforms those emotions into a defiant declaration of resilience.
The previously released “unapologetic” further reinforces one of the EP’s central themes: self-confidence. Connolly has described the song as being about refusing to apologise for who you are, including your imperfections, and embracing those flaws rather than hiding them.
There is also a growing international audience for Connolly’s music. Her lead single “beautiful life” entered South Africa’s 5FM Top 40, giving the artist an early radio presence in the market while introducing her pop-rock sound to a wider audience.
She will continue celebrating she’s too much! with upcoming performances at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles on October 7 and DROM in New York on October 14, followed by a December 4 performance at The Viper Room in Hollywood.
Ultimately, she’s too much! is a project about embracing every side of yourself. It can be soft and romantic, energetic and carefree, or angry and defiant — but the connecting thread is Connolly’s insistence on remaining authentic.
