What happens when the biggest milestone in life becomes the biggest test of a lifelong friendship?
That question sits at the heart of Let’s Have Kids, a new comedy directed by Adam Sztykiel and starring Karen Gillan and Zoë Chao as best friends whose ambitious plans for motherhood quickly turn into something neither of them expected.
The film follows lifelong friends Emma (Gillan) and Phoebe (Chao), who make a pact to get pregnant at the same time. Convinced that experiencing pregnancy and motherhood together will only strengthen their bond, the pair eagerly embark on what they believe will be the next great chapter of their lives.
But life, as it often does, has other plans.
As their carefully constructed arrangement begins to spiral into chaos, Emma and Phoebe discover that becoming parents doesn’t necessarily mean their lives will continue along the same path. The milestone they imagined would bring them closer instead threatens to expose the growing differences between them.
At its core, Let’s Have Kids explores the messy, complicated reality of growing up while trying to hold on to the relationships that have defined us. Emma and Phoebe’s friendship has carried them through everything, but motherhood forces them to confront just how much their lives—and priorities—can change.
Gillan and Chao lead an ensemble cast that also includes Sam Richardson, Max Greenfield, KJ Apa, Ed Begley Jr., Mary Steenburgen, Luke Macfarlane, Lilly Singh and Amanda Crew.
Directed by Sztykiel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ellie Knaus, the film promises a blend of comedy and heartfelt friendship drama, examining the expectations surrounding parenthood while asking whether even the strongest friendships can survive when life takes two people in very different directions.
The film will be available to buy or rent digitally from October 13, 2026.
