Amazon MGM Studios is expanding its relationship with The Boys creator Garth Ennis, developing a feature film adaptation of his horror-noir comic series Freddie the Fix.
Lawrence Lamont, director of the Sony Pictures comedy One of Them Days, is attached to direct the project, which is based on the comic from Ennis, the acclaimed creator behind The Boys and Preacher.
Freddie the Fix was the inaugural title released by Ninth Circle, the creator-owned horror imprint launched by Image Comics. The comic debuted in December 2024 and was created as a self-contained, oversized graphic novel designed to tell a complete story in a single volume.
The film will center on Freddie, a fixer who works for Hollywood’s supernatural elite. Armed with an almost magical ability to make incriminating evidence disappear, Freddie finds himself navigating a dangerous world where monsters, secrets and the entertainment industry collide.
Kimberly Steward and Alex Foster will produce the adaptation for K Period Media, with Kenya Barris producing through Khalabo Ink Society. Kalen Egan and Travis Sentell are writing the screenplay.
Ennis, Jeremy Allen, Lamont, Adam Glass, Michael Bogner and David Stone will executive produce.
Illustrated by Mike Perkins, Freddie the Fix quickly sold out following its release and received strong reviews from both critics and readers. The project also helped establish Ninth Circle as a home for standalone horror and genre stories.
Ninth Circle was founded by Ennis alongside fellow creators Ram V, Marguerite Bennett, Joe Pruett and Glass, with Steward serving as lead investor and K Period Media partnering on select titles. Freddie the Fix marks the first Ninth Circle property to receive a screen adaptation.
Lamont most recently directed One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA. Meanwhile, writers Egan and Sentell’s recent credits include Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams and The Lunar Chronicles, which is currently slated for release in 2028.
Barris and Khalabo Ink Society also have several projects in development. Their upcoming slate includes Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut Get Lite, starring Storm Reid, as well as a documentary feature chronicling the life and career of Grammy-winning musician Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.
