Ted and John Bennett are back, and this time, they’re bringing their outrageous adventures to animation. Peacock has unveiled a new teaser for Ted: The Animated Series, while also confirming the premiere date for the highly anticipated follow-up to the hit Ted movies.

Set 12 years after the events of Ted 2, the animated series continues the story of Ted and John as they navigate marriage, parenthood, work, and the many questionable decisions that come with adult life. The eight-episode first season will premiere on Peacock on December 17, 2026, with additional episodes scheduled to arrive in 2027.

According to the official synopsis, John and his “thunder-buddy” Ted are now neighbors, each with families and dead-end jobs. The series follows the pair as they continue enabling each other’s bad ideas while dealing with the challenges of marriage and parenting.

The new teaser gives fans their first proper look at Ted and John in animated form. Ted tells John that they can “do anything now, no consequences,” inspiring John to attempt a backflip. Things quickly go wrong, however, as John crashes to the ground and lands directly on his face.

When John complains that the stunt still hurts “like real life,” Ted reveals the series’ premiere date. The chaos doesn’t stop there, as an anvil promptly falls on John while Ted looks on with amusement.

“Aw, they’re having fun! This is going to be fun!” Ted declares before dragging John away.

Although the teaser is brief, it showcases the kind of exaggerated physical comedy that animation can bring to the Ted franchise. The new format also gives the creators more freedom to deliver visual gags that would be considerably harder to pull off in the live-action films.

Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg are returning to voice their respective characters, Ted and John Bennett. The returning cast also includes Amanda Seyfried as Sam, Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn, Kyle Mooney as Apollo, and Liz Richman as Ruth.

MacFarlane serves as an executive producer alongside Paul Corrigan, Brad Walsh, Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson, and Claudia Katz. Corrigan and Walsh are also serving as co-showrunners.

With its returning stars, familiar characters, and the added possibilities of animation, Ted: The Animated Series is set to give fans another dose of the foul-mouthed teddy bear and his longtime best friend when it premieres on Peacock on December 17, 2026.
