AURORA Revisits Her Beginnings With ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend (The Moth Tapes)’

AURORA releases All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend (The Moth Tapes), an intimate collection of early recordings, demos and previously unheard material from the period surrounding her landmark debut. The release features the brand-new track ‘Let Me Heal You (demo)’, alongside alternative versions of fan favourites including ‘Runaway’ and ‘Running With The Wolves’. The collection is also available as a unique moth-inspired vinyl pressing.

Built from recordings dating back to the earliest stages of AURORA’s career, The Moth Tapes offers a rare glimpse into the creative foundations of her debut album and the artistic identity that would eventually take her around the world.

The project brings together longtime collaborators including Magnus Skylstad and Odd Martin, alongside Michelle Leonard and Sacha Skarbek.

Reflecting on the new material, AURORA explains:

“‘Let Me Heal You’ is a very important concept to me. I’ve always thought of music as medicine, and the whole album is about meeting your own demons before you can help someone else chase away theirs. Trying to help someone before you have managed to help yourself will drain you in a way that might deprive the world of a good human.”

Rather than simply looking back, The Moth Tapes reveals the ideas and instincts that were already emerging in a young AURORA — themes of intimacy, nature, humanity, darkness and wonder, alongside her unmistakable desire to build a world entirely of her own.

Heard a decade later, these recordings create a fascinating bridge between the artist AURORA was becoming and the globally celebrated musician she is today.

‘Runaway’ Finds a New Generation

AURORA’s journey continues to evolve alongside the music that first established her. In 2026, ‘Runaway’ is experiencing another remarkable global resurgence, recently achieving its biggest streaming day since its viral breakthrough in 2021.

The song is currently appearing on Shazam charts across markets including Nigeria, Vietnam, the Philippines, Norway, Indonesia and Thailand, while also sitting inside the global Shazam Top 100. To date, ‘Runaway’ has amassed more than 3 billion combined streams.

The renewed success of the song mirrors AURORA’s own extraordinary journey. After growing up in a small town in Norway and writing music largely in solitude, she has developed into a truly global artist, cultivating an international community of Warriors & Weirdos and bringing her music to audiences in venues and arenas around the world.

With The Moth Tapes, listeners can now return to the very beginning and hear the sounds, ideas and emotions that helped shape that journey.

The release follows AURORA’s third book, published earlier this year to commemorate the tenth anniversary of All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. It forms part of a year-long celebration of the album, its legacy and the creative world surrounding it.
