featuring @mergui
Rising pop artist Mergui is stepping into a new era with the release of “Spotlight,” the first single from his forthcoming EP, Gut Feeling. Bright, upbeat, and undeniably feel-good, the track captures the exhilarating rush of falling for someone and the magnetic pull of a connection that arrives when you least expect it.
Built around the dizzying emotions of a new romance, “Spotlight” finds Mergui leaning into the excitement, vulnerability, and adrenaline that come with being swept up in someone else. It’s a song about that early stage of attraction when everything feels heightened and the world seems to revolve around one person.
Adding further weight to the release, “Spotlight” was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Jesse Shatkin, whose credits include work with artists such as Sia and Charlie Puth. The track also features creative direction from Austin Cieszko, known for his work with Benson Boone, while an official visualizer directed by Omer Aloni brings the song’s energy to life visually.
More than a standalone introduction, “Spotlight” sets the tone for Gut Feeling, a cohesive project built around the unpredictable journey of love. The upcoming EP explores its many stages—from the first spark and the rush of attraction to the emotions and experiences that inevitably follow.
With “Spotlight,” Mergui offers the first glimpse into that larger story: a vibrant, romantic opening chapter that embraces the thrill of not knowing exactly where a new connection might lead.
Gut Feeling is set to arrive November 20, with “Spotlight” marking the beginning of Mergui’s next chapter.
