Maude Apatow and Mike Faist are set to star in The Maid of Orleans, the upcoming feature from writer-director Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, who previously helmed Good Girl Jane. Astute Films is financing the project, with production set to begin this week.

The film follows a young woman who takes on a new job assisting a famously talented yet complicated director during the production of a French film about Joan of Arc.

Mintz will produce the project alongside Shuli Harel and Jeff David.

Apatow is also preparing to make her feature directorial debut with Poetic License, which stars Cooper Hoffman, Andrew Barth Feldman and Leslie Mann. Apatow produced the film through her Jewelbox Pictures banner. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it earned strong reviews, before screening at South by Southwest to another positive reception. Sony Pictures Classics recently acquired the film, which is slated for release next spring.

Apatow is best known for playing Lexi Howard on HBO’s acclaimed series Euphoria, which earned Emmy and BAFTA nominations and recently concluded its three-season run. She is represented by WME, Mosaic and Ziffren Brittenham.

Faist most recently earned praise for his role in Netflix’s limited series East of Eden, which premiered last week. The series also stars Florence Pugh and Christopher Abbott. Faist is represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
