Peacock’s upcoming limited crime series The Good Daughter is set to explore the devastating impact of family trauma, buried secrets, and a shocking new crime in a small Kentucky town. The first footage from the six-episode thriller introduces estranged sisters who are forced to confront their painful past when tragedy strikes close to home.
Based on Karin Slaughter’s 2017 bestselling novel of the same name, The Good Daughter stars Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy as sisters Samantha and Charlotte Quinn. Their lives were permanently changed by a violent incident years earlier, leaving them on separate paths.
Charlotte, played by Fahy, has followed in her father’s footsteps and become a lawyer. When a new attack takes place in Pikeville, she becomes the first witness at the scene. As the investigation unfolds, Charlotte finds herself increasingly drawn into the case—and into questions surrounding her family’s complicated history.
Samantha, portrayed by Byrne, has built a life far from Pikeville. However, the latest tragedy brings her back into Charlotte’s world, forcing the sisters to confront the unresolved issues that have kept them apart.
The trailer opens with the Quinn sisters alongside their father, who is lying in a hospital bed. He immediately turns his attention to the case, telling them, “Let’s get down to brass tacks. Lawyer-to-lawyer.”
The footage then introduces Kelly Wilson, played by Shayna Benardo, as she is escorted into a courtroom. Their father argues that Kelly needs an advocate, explaining that authorities believe she is responsible for the murders. Samantha pushes back, pointing out that Kelly allegedly killed two people. Their father, however, insists there is more to Kelly’s story than the sisters have been told.
As the trailer progresses, Samantha and Charlotte are shown attempting to work through their strained relationship while investigating the circumstances surrounding the murders. Flashbacks offer glimpses into their childhood, including happier moments with their mother, before returning to the present-day mystery.
Samantha also confronts Kelly in an effort to uncover the truth behind the killings, while a series of increasingly tense scenes hints at the larger secrets surrounding the Quinn family.
Slaughter adapted her own novel for the television series and serves as its creator, lead writer, and showrunner. Steph Green directs all six episodes.
The Good Daughter premieres November 12 on Peacock, with all six episodes available to stream simultaneously.
