Prime Video has unveiled the first full trailer for Blade Runner 2099, offering a new look at the highly anticipated sci-fi series starring Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh. The footage debuted at New York Comic Con, introducing a future where the balance of power between humans and Replicants has dramatically shifted.
Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the eight-episode limited series returns audiences to a reimagined Los Angeles, where humanity is no longer in control. Following a Replicant uprising, the world faces an uncertain future as artificial beings rise to prominence and questions about identity, mortality and what it means to be human take centre stage.
Schafer stars as Cora, a fugitive desperate to escape her past. In a final attempt to secure a different future, she assumes a new identity as a Blade Runner. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she is forced to work alongside Olwen, played by Yeoh, a Replicant Blade Runner who is nearing the end of her life.
Together, the unlikely pair embark on a dangerous mission to track down a runaway whose secrets could threaten the fragile order of their city. With time running out, their investigation could have far-reaching consequences for both humans and Replicants.
The series continues the franchise’s long-running exploration of artificial intelligence, consciousness and mortality, while shifting the perspective towards a world in which Replicants have gained the upper hand. Rather than simply revisiting familiar territory, Blade Runner 2099 examines what happens when humanity is forced to confront its own potential extinction.
Silka Luisa, known for Shining Girls, serves as the series’ creator and showrunner. Jonathan van Tulleken directs the first two episodes, while original Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is among the executive producers, helping maintain the creative connection to the franchise’s cinematic roots.
The supporting cast includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.
The original Blade Runner, directed by Scott and released in 1982, established a distinctive vision of a dystopian future, while Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 expanded that world in 2017. Now, the franchise moves further into the future with a story that challenges its established ideas about humanity and artificial life.
All eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 will premiere on Prime Video on November 25, 2026.
