Apple is taking horror to a new level with Remnants, an immersive film designed to put viewers directly inside a terrifying story. Ahead of its release, the studio has unveiled a trailer featuring audience reactions as they experience the film for the first time, alongside footage captured from the movie’s first-person perspective.
Designed for the Apple Vision Pro, Remnants will debut on October 16, 2026. The 27-minute production is described as Apple’s first immersive horror film and is written and directed by Ti West, known for his work in the horror genre.
Set at Woldmere Castle, the film stars Lucy Boynton and Ralph Ineson. Through Apple’s immersive technology, viewers can experience the unsettling atmosphere and events of the story in a more immediate and engaging way.
Although Remnants marks a new step for Apple in immersive horror, it is not the company’s first venture into the format. Previous releases include Submerged and Bono: Stories of Surrender, the latter marking Apple’s first feature-length offering in the medium.
The film uses Apple Immersive Video, a specialized 180-degree video format that has primarily been used for sports coverage and documentary-style short films. With Remnants, Apple is bringing the technology into the horror genre, offering audiences a different way to experience cinematic storytelling.
Meanwhile, West has another horror project on the horizon. His upcoming film, Ebenezer, reimagines Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol as a horror story and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026, with earlier releases planned for Australia and Brazil on November 12.
Distributed by Paramount Pictures, Ebenezer is produced by Emma Watts and features a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern. Its star-studded cast includes Johnny Depp, Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and Ian McKellen.
With Remnants exploring immersive horror and Ebenezer offering a darker take on a literary classic, West is set to bring two distinctive horror experiences to audiences in the coming months.
