Catholic school drama takes a sinister turn in Netflix’s upcoming teen horror series The Body, which has just unveiled its official first trailer. Created by showrunner Quinn Shephard, the eight-episode series combines high school rivalries, supernatural terror, and religious hysteria.

Drawing inspiration from cult classics of the ’90s and Y2K era, including Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, Mean Girls, and Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, The Body promises a mix of teen drama, dark comedy, and Catholic horror.

The story centers on a group of Catholic schoolgirls who begin experiencing prophetic visions after a dance-team initiation takes a disturbing turn. Described as a “playful spin” on Shephard’s own teenage experiences, the series explores the chaos that unfolds when adolescence, ambition, and the supernatural collide.

“I literally made this for my teen self,” Shephard told Netflix’s Tudum.

Describing the show’s distinctive style, the creator called it “gritty camp,” explaining that it combines a raunchy teen psychodrama with elements of Catholic horror. Shephard also revealed that her longtime fascination with The Crucible played a major role in shaping the series.

The newly released trailer opens with a group of Catholic schoolgirls questioning their teacher about the complexities of summoning Lucifer. When asked what would happen if the devil were successfully summoned, the teacher warns that there would be “signs.”

What follows is a series of unsettling glimpses into life at the school, including auditions for the Lions, its competitive dance team. The tension escalates during a drug-fueled party, where an undisclosed incident sparks a chain of disturbing events.

As the trailer progresses, paranoia spreads throughout the school, with the girls increasingly questioning whether some of their classmates have been possessed. The result is a chilling blend of teenage rivalries, supernatural suspicion, and escalating hysteria.

The series stars Kristina Bogic, Sara Boustany, Sofia Wylie, Geena Meszaros, Shirley Chen, and Gabby Windey.

Shephard directed the pilot and serves as showrunner, with Peter Chernin, Amy Israel, Josh Stern, Riley Keough, Gina Gammell, Sacha Ben Harroche, and Blair Breard among the executive producers.

The Body is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on November 11, 2026.
