Netflix has officially released the first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated fantasy film Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. Led by Daniel Craig, the upcoming adaptation features Emma Mackey, David McKenna, and an ensemble cast bringing C. S. Lewis’ beloved fantasy world to life.

According to the official synopsis, “Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig brings C. S. Lewis’ beloved story The Magician’s Nephew to the screen for the first time in a sweeping adventure that invites dreamers of all ages to experience the creation of Narnia.”

The trailer introduces viewers to Digory Kirke, played by David McKenna, and Polly Plummer, portrayed by Beatrice Campbell. As the two young protagonists embark on an extraordinary adventure, a narrator hints at the story’s significance, declaring, “Sometimes one story is the beginning of all the others.”

Their journey into the unknown begins when they encounter Uncle Andrew, played by Daniel Craig, and become intrigued by the possibility of magic. Hoping to discover whether it truly exists, Polly and Digory visit his home. “Are you ready?” Polly asks, prompting a hesitant Digory to respond, “How can I be ready if I don’t know what’s on the other side?”

When Polly questions Uncle Andrew about whether magic actually works, he confidently replies, “I am a magician. But see for yourself.” He then hands Digory a mysterious ring, setting the stage for a glimpse into the film’s fantastical world.

As Led Zeppelin’s iconic song “Stairway to Heaven” plays in the background, the trailer offers a first look at the magical realms awaiting the young adventurers. Amazed by what he sees, Digory exclaims, “Wow!” Polly then reveals the possibilities ahead, telling him, “There are other worlds.”

However, their adventure takes a dangerous turn when Digory accidentally touches a forbidden object, awakening Jadis, the White Witch, portrayed by Emma Mackey. The powerful figure makes her presence known with the ominous declaration, “Come to me, my power.”

The trailer closes by teasing another major character from the Narnia universe: Aslan, the legendary lion. Acclaimed actress Meryl Streep is set to lend her voice to the iconic character.

Beyond its leading stars, the film features Carey Mulligan, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Ciarán Hinds, Denise Gough, and Susan Wokoma. The musical score is composed by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, adding another notable creative team to Gerwig’s ambitious adaptation.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 12, 2027, before making its Netflix debut on April 2, 2027.
