Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan are set to star in Josephine, an upcoming psychological thriller-drama that is already attracting awards attention ahead of its theatrical release. The film has earned major honors on the festival circuit and is generating early Oscar buzz.
Written, directed, and produced by Beth de Araújo, Josephine premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in January. As Josephine’s behavior changes, her parents must confront their own emotional distress while trying to help their daughter feel safe again and pursue justice.
The newly released trailer opens with Josephine in a courtroom before shifting to a scene in which she exercises with her father. The preview offers a glimpse into the lasting psychological impact of the incident and the challenges her family faces in its aftermath. Several tense and emotionally charged moments throughout the trailer hint at the film’s intense exploration of trauma, family relationships, and the difficult path toward healing.
Newcomer Mason Reeves leads the cast as Josephine, while Tatum and Chan portray her parents, Damien and Claire. The supporting cast includes Philip Ettinger, Syra McCarthy, Eleanore Pienta, Michael Angelo Covino, and Dana Millican.
The film’s critical reception has further strengthened its awards-season prospects.
