Prime Video has unveiled a new trailer for The Greatest, an upcoming biographical drama series exploring the early life and extraordinary rise of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The eight-episode series will chronicle Ali’s transformation from Cassius Clay into one of the most influential sporting and cultural figures of the 20th century.

Created by Ben Watkins, the series promises to look beyond Ali’s achievements inside the boxing ring, examining the personal relationships, political convictions and defining moments that helped shape his legacy.

The Greatest Trailer Explores Ali’s Rise to Fame

The newly released trailer introduces audiences to a young Cassius Clay, a determined and confident boxer convinced of his ability to reach the top of his sport. Viewers are taken through his intense training, his ambitions to become heavyweight champion and the challenges that accompanied his rapid rise to prominence.

One of the trailer’s central moments is Ali’s legendary confrontation with heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, a pivotal chapter in the boxer’s career. However, the series also explores the man behind the public persona, offering glimpses into his relationship with his father, Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr., and the personal experiences that influenced his development.

Ali’s life beyond boxing also features prominently, with the trailer highlighting his interactions with influential figures, including civil rights leader Malcolm X. These moments hint at a story that will examine how Ali’s beliefs and willingness to challenge expectations helped establish him as an icon far beyond the sporting world.

The Greatest marks the first authorised scripted television series to chronicle Muhammad Ali’s life, bringing a fresh perspective to the story of a man whose impact extended well beyond his championship victories.

Who Stars in The Greatest?

Jaalen Best leads the series as Cassius Clay, who would ultimately become known to the world as Muhammad Ali. Best is joined by Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, Kai Parham as Rudy Clay and Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston.

The supporting cast also includes Giovanni Ribisi as legendary boxing trainer Angelo Dundee and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X.

Watkins serves as creator and showrunner, with executive producers including Michael B. Jordan, Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) and Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s late wife. Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Matthew Gross, Marc Rosen, Craig Siebels and Aiyana White are also among the executive producers.

With its combination of sporting history, family drama and social commentary, The Greatest aims to present a more personal portrait of the man behind the legend, exploring the experiences and convictions that helped define his extraordinary life.

All eight episodes of The Greatest will premiere on Prime Video on November 4, 2026.
