Hunter Schafer Teases Wild New A24 Vampire Horror Film From The First Omen Director

Hunter Schafer has offered a tantalising glimpse into one of A24’s most mysterious upcoming horror projects, revealing that her latest film is a vampire movie that she describes as an exceptionally wild experience.

The Euphoria and Cuckoo star shared the news while attending the Academy Museum Gala, where she was asked about the horror franchises she would like to be part of. Instead of looking towards an existing series, Schafer revealed that she had already filmed a project that could become one of her most memorable screen experiences to date.

“I’m so excited about it. It might be my favourite thing I’ve ever filmed,” Schafer said, describing the untitled production as “batshit crazy” and praising the opportunity to work alongside her fellow actresses in such an unconventional way.

The revelation offers the clearest indication yet of what audiences might expect from the secretive A24 project, which is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed horror prequel The First Omen.

A Vampire Story Shrouded in Mystery

While Schafer has confirmed the film’s vampire connections, details surrounding the story remain firmly under wraps. The project has reportedly been described as a bachelor party that descends into terror, suggesting that what begins as a celebration could quickly become a nightmare.

However, whether Schafer herself portrays a vampire remains unanswered. The actress was reluctant to reveal too much when asked about her character, acknowledging that the production is still so secretive that even its official title has yet to be announced.

Despite her enthusiasm, Schafer made it clear that she did not want to reveal anything that could land her in trouble with the filmmakers. Her comments have nevertheless added considerable intrigue to a project that has already attracted attention for its impressive ensemble cast.

An Impressive Cast of Horror Talent

Schafer will be joined by a collection of actors familiar to audiences across horror, television and independent cinema. The ensemble includes Emma Corrin, known for Nosferatu, Sophie Wilde of Talk to Me, Havana Rose Liu from No Exit, and Josh Hutcherson, who recently appeared in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.

Caleb Landry Jones and Whitmer Thomas are also among the cast, alongside Fabien Frankel, best known for House of the Dragon. The ensemble is further rounded out by Katelyn Rose Downey, Suzanna Son and Emory Cohen.

Behind the camera, Stevenson co-wrote the screenplay with Tim Smith, continuing their creative partnership following The First Omen. Filmmaker Ari Aster, whose credits include Hereditary and Midsommar, is executive producing through his Square Peg banner.

Stevenson’s involvement is particularly noteworthy following the response to The First Omen, which demonstrated her ability to bring an unsettling atmosphere and distinctive visual style to the horror genre.

What Comes Next for A24’s Secret Project?

With filming reportedly completed earlier this year, the untitled production is now one to watch as A24 continues to keep its details under wraps. Schafer’s enthusiastic description suggests that the film could deliver something considerably more unpredictable than a conventional vampire story, although the precise nature of its horror remains unknown.

For now, audiences will have to wait for further details about the plot, Schafer’s character and the film’s eventual release.

One thing is clear: with Stevenson directing, Aster involved as an executive producer and a cast packed with exciting talent, A24’s upcoming vampire project is already shaping up to be an intriguing addition to the studio’s horror slate.

The film has yet to receive an official title or release date.
