Trailer: Pedro Pascal Takes Centre Stage in Tony Gilroy’s New Music Drama ‘Behemoth!’

Pedro Pascal is stepping into a world where music, personal struggles and Hollywood collide in Behemoth!, the upcoming drama from acclaimed filmmaker Tony Gilroy. Searchlight Pictures has released a new trailer for the film, offering a closer look at Pascal’s latest leading role and a story that explores the life of a gifted musician searching for direction.

Pascal stars as Alex Serian, a talented cellist who returns to Los Angeles after spending two decades on the road. Having devoted much of his life to music, Alex finds himself embarking on a journey that could change his understanding of his career, relationships and the choices that have shaped his life.

The newly released trailer introduces Alex to an unexpected professional opportunity, beginning with a mysterious request to sign a non-disclosure agreement. When he questions what the project actually involves, he is told that Behemoth is simply a code name, hinting at a secretive assignment that will draw him into unfamiliar territory.

As the footage unfolds, viewers get glimpses of Alex’s complicated personal life and his attempts to reconnect with the people around him. Eva Victor appears as a fellow performer who takes an interest in Alex, while Will Arnett plays a character who questions his decision to return home after so many years away. Olivia Wilde also features as someone who challenges Alex to confront emotions he may have spent years avoiding.

The film’s ensemble cast includes Hank Azaria, JoBeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls and Erik Griffin, bringing together an eclectic group of performers for Gilroy’s latest feature.

Tony Gilroy Explores the Music Behind the Movies

Written and directed by Gilroy, Behemoth! turns its attention to the musicians whose work helps shape the emotional impact of cinema. Best known for his work on Michael Clayton, the Bourne franchise and the acclaimed Star Wars series Andor, Gilroy brings his storytelling experience to a drama centred on the creative world behind the screen.

Music is central to the film’s identity, with an unusually ambitious approach to its score. Nine composers have contributed to the project, including Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Alan Silvestri and Henry Jackman. The music has been developed to give individual fictional films within the story their own distinctive sound, making the scoring process an integral part of the narrative.

For Pascal, the role also presented a significant physical challenge. The actor has spoken about learning to handle the cello convincingly for the film, describing the experience as one of the most challenging tasks of his career.

Produced by Gilroy alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy, Behemoth! brings together a story about artistic ambition, personal reinvention and the complicated relationship between a musician and his craft.

With Pascal leading the cast and Gilroy exploring a world rarely placed at the centre of a major film drama, Behemoth! offers a fresh perspective on the people responsible for creating the music that audiences hear on screen.

Behemoth! is scheduled to arrive in US cinemas on December 4, 2026, courtesy of Searchlight Pictures.
