Renée Zellweger, Peter Dinklage and Dominic Sessa are joining forces for Darlington, an upcoming high-concept comedy from filmmaker Sacha Gervasi, with acclaimed director Alexander Payne attached as an executive producer.
The project brings together an award-winning cast for a story that blurs the boundaries between fantasy and reality. Gervasi, known for directing Hitchcock and My Dinner with Hervé, will direct from his own screenplay, with production expected to begin in the United Kingdom in spring 2027.
Zellweger, a two-time Academy Award winner, will lead the film as Kate Spencer, an actress whose career has faded from the spotlight. Her fortunes take an unexpected turn when she is offered the chance to revisit the role that once made her famous. However, this is no ordinary television revival.
Instead, Kate finds herself invited into the unusual world of a reclusive technology billionaire, played by Sessa, who has restored an English country estate to resemble its former glory in 1923. Having withdrawn from modern society, the billionaire lives as though he is permanently inhabiting another era.
As Kate settles into this carefully constructed environment, she becomes increasingly aware that the distinction between the billionaire’s elaborate fantasy and the real world may not be as straightforward as it first appears.
