A new comedy is on the way, with Luke Wilson, Vanessa Hudgens and Nick Swardson teaming up for the upcoming R-rated film Mini War. A first look at the project has been unveiled ahead of its sales launch at the American Film Market, where Capture will be shopping the film to potential buyers in the lead-up to the event in ten days.
The film reunites members of the creative team behind the 2006 comedy Grandma’s Boy. Joel David Moore (Avatar) is directing from a screenplay written by Swardson and Allen Covert.
Wilson stars as Joe, a laid-back stoner who unexpectedly inherits a miniature golf course following the death of his uncle. Hoping to sell the property while keeping his uncle’s legacy alive, Joe soon finds himself facing an unexpected rival.
That rival is Darren, played by Swardson, the ambitious owner of a neighbouring go-kart track who has plans to demolish the golf course and expand his racing business. What starts as a disagreement over neighbouring properties quickly escalates into an all-out neighbourhood feud.
Caught in the middle is Olivia (Hudgens), the owner of a local hot-dog stand, as a colourful collection of characters gets swept up in the increasingly chaotic conflict.
The supporting cast features Brett Gelman, Kevin Nealon, Rob Morgan, Dave Sheridan, Blake Anderson, John Farley, Nicholas Turturro and Morgan Kohan.
With its reunion of familiar Grandma’s Boy collaborators and a cast packed with comedy talent, Mini War looks set to deliver a neighbourhood showdown filled with absurd rivalries and outrageous laughs.
