Netflix are finishing up production on the Marilyn Monroe biopic ‘Blonde’, starring Ana De Armas. It will follow the reimagined life of the blonde bombshell and in the process, creating Netflix’s first ever adult-only movie in the process.
Rumoured to be full of controversial topics and graphic sex scenes, the semi-fantastical biopic has already caused quite the stir amongst early viewers — who granted the film an 18 rating. ‘Blonde’ co-stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale and Julianne Nicholson. The film was originally rumored to premiere in May outside of competition at Cannes, but reportedly is no longer expected during the festival.
The Marilyn Monroe productions from Netflix don’t stop there though. Netflix has released the trailer for there upcoming documentary called ‘The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes’. Marilyn Monroe’s death in 1962, at the age of 36, shocked the world, and in the new documentary viewers can hope to find the answer to the questions surrounding her overdose. The film, directed by Emma Cooper and executive produced by Chris Smith, delves into the interviews done during an investigation into her death, 20 years after she died.
