The album has arrived as a cultural milestone in its own right. Stretching past the eight-minute mark, the title track “GOD DID” [feat. Rick RossLil WayneJAY-ZJohn Legend, & Fridayy] has sparked an important conversation. As part of a special report for MSNBC, Ari Melber host of The Beat broke down JAY-Z’s four-minute verse as a cogent and cohesive analysis on the failures of the prolonged generational drug war framed through the icon’s own journey embodied in the rhyme, “cocaína into champagne. However, it didn’t stop there. KhaledJAY-Z, Melber, and journalist Rob Markman engaged in this discourse publicly on Twitter SpacesJAY-Z went one step further and uploaded Melber’s initial report as “HOV DID” on all streaming platforms. Rolling Stone and People have chronicled this chain of events, and the conversation continues. However, it all started on “GOD DID.

Meanwhile, “Use This Gospel (Remix) [feat. Kanye WestEmimen (prod. by Dr. Dre The ICU)] bowed at #1 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart and Hot Christian Songs Chart—Khaled’s first #1 entries on the respective charts. Additionally, he notched 10 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, including “God Did” at #17, “Staying Alive” at #21 (Greatest Gainer/Streaming), “Beautiful” at #29, “Big Time” at #31, “Use This Gospel (Remix)”at #49, “Juice WRLD Did” at #55, “Keep Going”at #57 “Party” at #66, “It Ain’t Safe” at #77 “No Secret” at #78 and “Let’s Pray” at #86.

Beyond posting up over 100 million cumulative streams and views, GOD DID finds Khaled everywhere. GQ spoke to him as part of an in-depth profile and proclaimed, Sixteen years after his star-studded debut, 2006’s Listennn… the Album, many of its same guests showed up for God Did, and getting these now-giants to answer the call today is even more of an impressive feat.” Meanwhile, Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller of Rap Radar chatted with him for an all-encompassing podcast. Plus, he took the stage at the MTV VMA to present the award for “Best Collaboration” to Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow for “Industry Baby.

He celebrated the rollout with an unprecedented deluge of videos, including, “Big Time” [feat. Future Lil Baby], “It Ain’t Safe”  [feat. Nardo Wick & Kodak Black], “Party All The Time” [feat. Quavo Takeoff], “These Streets Know My Name” [feat. SkillibengBuju BantonCapletonBounty Killer, & Sizzla], “Keep Going” [feat. Lil Durk21 Savage, & Roddy Ricch], “Beautiful” [feat. SZA Future],  “Way Past Luck” [feat. 21 Savage], and “Jadakiss Interlude” [feat. Jadakiss].

Delivering the hip-hop event of the summer, he welcomed an A-list cohort of friends to join him for his latest magnum opus. Last year, Khaled unleashed his twelfth full-length album, KHALEDKHALED [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records]. It arrived as his third #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, sixth #1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, and fourth #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. It also reached platinum status.

Representing Louisiana, P Yungin’s star has steadily risen since the 2020 release of his YoungBoy Never Broke Again assisted single “I’m On” and debut project, Demons Everywhere I Go. The 15 track offering showcases Yungin’s artistry as he tackles hard-hitting Southern instrumentals with real, raw stories of the environment he grew up in. In 2021, Yungin maintained his momentum with a star-making performance on the Never Broke Again Volume 1 compilation under the Never Broke Again/Motown Records partnership. He appears on the opener “Choppa Dance,” “Did Me Wrong” with Quando Rondo as well as “Tweet Bird” [feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Rojay MLP, Meechy Baby & Rjae], the latter of which racked up more than 1.6 million streams. Yungin also appears on the collective’s most recent 2022 compilation, Green Flag Activity, making waves with a standout verse on “Pull Up Actin” alongside YoungBoy Never Broke Again. P Yungin continues to raise up the Louisiana sound with the release of his latest single “Solitary” and will drop his next solo project later this year.

Making a momentous return, multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstar and Atlanta icon Offset unleashes his first new solo record and music video in three years “5 4 3 2 1” available today via Motown Records. Listen to “5 4 3 2 1” HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Produced by Baby Keem, the track hinges on an ominously razor-sharp keyboard-laden beat. Meanwhile, Offset’s signature rapid fire flow cuts through the production as he counts down, “5 4 3 2 1.” In the accompanying music video, he dons an all Balenciaga fit as he takes over an amusement park. Catching air, he raps from a pirate ship tilt-a-whirl and on a swing suspended high above the ground.

It kickstarts another chapter from one of the most influential artists of the past decade as he prepares his next full-length body of work and the follow-up to the gold-certified chart-topping Father of 4 back in 2019. Of course, his rhymes also energized Migos’s blockbuster Culture III, which bowed at #2 on the Billboard Top 200, generated billions of streams, and received widespread acclaim last year.

However, he’s ready to break the internet and reshape the game like only he can once more.

Stay tuned for more news very soon.

rising NZ electronic music producer/songwriter duo Kédu Carlö shareplayful90’s rave and acid house influenced new cutCoochie’, out on EMK, the electronic music platform launched by Kartel Music GroupStream ‘Coochie’ Here. The new cut will be included in the upcoming ‘Alien Fempire’ EP due on September 2nd.

Featuring an undeniable catchy bassline, a main acid house line, alien led synths and vocoder vocals, with Coochie’, Kédu Carlö blend their love for late 80s/90’s rave culture and acid house into a dancefloor ready cut. The single is a perfect showcase of their future-facing club sound, and a taste of what’s to come musically in the future.

‘Coochie’, says the duo; “started off as a joke one evening when we were having a jam and freestyling the lyrics, “You want my coochie, give me that Gucci”. Those lyrics were the centerpoint of the track as well as our interest at the time in 80’s and 90’s Acid House, it was from there that the track evolved into what it is now”.

Talking about their collaborative production process, the duo says; “we started off with the main acid line, alien lead synth and vocoder vocal of ‘you want my coochie’, which we also resampled and manipulated into other elements throughout the track. The acid line is made up of multiple layers of the TAL-Bassline soft synth. Most of the synth lead lines and chords are Arturia Analog V plugins, we love using their massive range of software synths”.

Xades (pronounced shades) is the newest creation of the DJ and curator known mostly under MSJY. Whilst MSJY’s DJ sets are known for their heavy bass drip and bouncy rhythmic darkness, Xades is an ode to the sweet latina soul hidden underneath the tiny powerhouse bouncing behind the booth. Whilst it is certainly new to hear the voice behind the sound, MSJY has been spreading her music all over the world for more than 8 years.

By using it as a portal to connect to people and interact with her surroundings, she enjoys exploring its various soundscapes with a sharp mind, sensitive ear and dedicated heart. The Dekmantel affiliated selector as well as a former resident at Amsterdam‘s De School, Groningen’s OOST and Berlin‘s Griessmuehle is known for thought- and playful sets that dig into bass and breaks adding dashes of her passed influences of trip-hop and IDM. As Xades, Jenny explores her voice and songwriting, extending her tentacles into different genres, serving a vulnerable exploration that transitions smoothly from dub, downtempo electronica and contemporary R&B. Her multiplicitous musical and cultural roots (Brazilian mother, Argentinian father, Swiss passport) seep through all the versatile layers of her sound.

Following the success of her recent singles “Shaded” and “Locked In”, Xades is back and dropping her Shaded EP! Leading with focus track “Me Duele”, listeners are served a groovy neo soul/hip-hop banger with hook reminiscent of her Latina background and the early Kali Uchis. Despite the sensitive title (“it hurts me”) and the nostalgic theme (missing her partner in a long distance relationship) the song breathes serious summer vibes including an infectious sax solo and Xades’ effortlessly melodious raps.

A perfectionist at heart, it needed a gentle push by her partner (in crime, music, and life) to find the confidence to share an album that proves that finesse for depth and layer her long-time listeners have always admired her for. She’s set to have an incredible year!

Wax on Water are an alternative rock band based in fronted by singer, songwriter and producer Maya Damaris joined in 2019 by a new musical partner in crime, virtuoso rock guitarist Steven Blessing. Over the past year, this inventive and musically eclectic duo have been catching the ears of many music industry insiders both in the UK and the USA with their adventurous fusion of grunge, electronica, strings, keyboards and intense guitars. Always experimenting, reworking and reimagining songs that inspire their own musical oeuvre, the band now release a surprise single for their fans, a song NOT present on their sophomore album “The Drip”: a unique reworking of Queens of The Stone Age single “Mexicola”,out 19th August 2022

This has been a hugely ambitious twelve months for the band, releasing not one but two EPs in a conceptual series: “The Drip – Part 1” and “The Drip – Part 2”, as well as a bold full- length sixteen track album, ‘The Drip’ to wide critical acclaim. “The Drip” album is a fearless volume of work consisting of sixteen expertly crafted songs that creatively builds upon the raw visceral electro grunge rock of the band’s 2018 debut album “Procession” and takes it to a whole new creative level. The songs are bold and eclectic both musically and lyrically, with subjects ranging from love, loyalty, loss, self-esteem and depression, to what constitutes a ‘higher love’, observations on control freaks as well as (another) bold reimagining of a classic track: O’Jays track “For the Love of Money”.

“Mexicola” is a cover of a Queens Of The Stone age track off their very first album, written and produced by frontman Josh Homme. In typical Wax on Water style, the song is completely reimagined and reworked in a totally new way. Here the gutsy guitar stylings of Blessing completely take a back seat as the track is performed and produced solely by Damaris who also changes the lyrics up so the song is like a reply to Josh Homme’s along with cleverly added lyrics. When asked why she chose to cover this particular song she answers,

“I produced this interpolation of “Mexicola” during one of the UK lockdown periods. With nowhere open and not being allowed to see anyone – including our guitarist, Steve. I used to drive just to get out of the house and that first QOTSA album was the soundtrack to those escapes. I always loved that album – Josh’s songwriting is very unique – and I got to thinking how it would be kinda cool to do a different take on “Mexicola” – for it to be like a response to the protagonist in Josh Homme’s song. I changed up some of the lyrics to suit the character in my version of the track and then production wise, I took it to an electro-goth place by layering up synth and drum machine and adding lots of strings to give it a twisted dark drama.’

Michigan born and bred Sage Castleberry is a pop country artist whose music brings together old and new. Born into a family of musicians, he was exposed to a variety of genres, ranging from 80s hair bands to country music and everything in between. Picking up the guitar at just 10 years old, Castleberry has spent years mastering his art, eventually becoming the lead guitarist in a band alongside his good childhood friend, Sam Luna, Dave Luna, long time family friend Chris Gillette and Castleberry’s own father (and former 80’s rock drummer), Tim Castleberry. Taking the leap to go solo, the songwriter has been working on his own music, discovering his unique sound and perfecting his artistry.

Following the paramount success of his debut single “I Kinda Like It”, Castleberry is back with his next single “Last Goodbye”. Claiming his infectious pop country sound fueled by his diverse influences over the years, the Michigan artist displays a multitude of musicality. As he soaks up the music from his childhood, he fuses pop-fueled modern, fresh and dance-worthy elements, with the country influences of Rascal Fatts, Thomas Rhett and Seaforth.

“Last Goodbye” narrates the tribulations of dealing with a breakup. Written between his family home in Battle Creek, and apartment in Kalamazoo, his next single soars with grooving guitars, synonymous vocals and compelling choruses. He elaborates, “I first wrote the chorus, then started humming melodies for verses. With the help of Addison Liggett, she gave me a killer line to start the second verse with and the rest is history.” Hoping to inspire people to have the courage to do things they love and not worry about what others may think, his unapologetically unique approach to composition is just one of the reasons “Last Goodbye” is set to transpire with fans globally.

Garnering critical acclaim on release of his outstanding debut from the likes of Earmilk, Atwood Magazine, and Variance Magazine, Sage Castleberry is emerging exceptionally into the scene.

Singer-songwriter, vocal powerhouse and now-producer Grace Davies pushes her artistry firmly into sixth-gear with the release of ‘Already Gone’, a heart-wrenching ballad about self-reflection and relationship sabotage. Listen here.

With the release of the track, Grace announces her third EP, It Wasn’t Perfect, But We Tried, five smart, sassy, genre-crossing songs that find the 25 year old confidently claiming control of her career – turning the tables on her sad girl persona and taking the reins with new-found talent in production. The EP is due for release 7th October 2022

On this new offering taken from the forthcoming EP, Grace continues to showcase her raw, flawless tone and songwriting prowess, this time making her production debut with her first fully self-produced release. The track boasts a melodic piano motif, melancholic string orchestration by Sally Herbert (Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Florence & The Machine), and is an all-female co-write, penned by Grace with Rachel Furner and Katya Edwards – “It was fantastic – three women in a room pouring their hearts out”.

Sat in the producer’s chair for the first time, Grace comments on her most confident and accomplished release yet: “During lockdowns I had to make my own demos and record my own vocals because the studios were shut,” says Grace. “I’ve always had a producer’s head, just never an engineer’s hands. I knew what I wanted, but not how to achieve it. Learning that has given me massive confidence. It’s taught me to stand up for myself, both in and outside the studio.” ‘Already Gone’ and the upcoming EP finds Grace a true multi-hyphenate

On the meaning of the track and its emotive lyricism, Grace says: “I always write songs about boys that have done me wrong and how that has caused me heartbreak, but ‘Already Gone’ breaks my heart for a very different reason. The song is about a relationship that I self-sabotaged and really messed up, which is super hard to admit. Recognising your flaws and your own wrong doings when a relationship comes to an end takes huge courage, and there is absolutely nothing worse than wanting to do everything in your power to get that person back and make it right but knowing it’s a lost cause. Having to accept that someone doesn’t want you anymore is tough, but perhaps tougher when you know it’s your own fault.”

flipturn releases their long-awaited debut album Shadowglow via Dualtone Records. Having released singles from their first LP since March, driving their Spotify to over 60 million streams, while captivating the masses at most major festivals this summer, the anticipation for this project has been nothing shy of insatiable. A masterclass on the balance between darkness and light, the chemistry of the band is undeniable both recorded and live, and lead singer Dillon Basse boasts a vibrato that holds the fiercest form of tenderness within modern indie rock. Stream Shadowglow HERE.

On the band’s debut, lead guitarist Tristan Duncan said, “Shadowglow captures that moment of time between the yearning of youth and the sobering weight of adulthood.”

Each of the 14 tracks on this record move in an elliptical orbit around the central idea that progress and backsliding exist side by side. Endless searching doesn’t necessarily get you to where you intended, but there is something to be found in every stage of the process. A listen to the album from front to back is like the inescapable pulling force of a blackhole, you know where you entered but can’t quite determine when and if you’ll ever get out. This is mirrored by how the album loops back into itself, perpetually sucking the listener further into the blackhole. Some blackholes form from the death of a star, but Shadowglow is a rebirth for flipturn.

Sydney-based electronic artist Nyxen releases her debut album PXNK, pronounced “punk”, out now via Tank Top Records/BMG.

A formidable fusion of ‘80s synthwave and modern electronic influences, PXNK is a standout debut from the rising talent. The 11-track project emphasizes emotional lyricism and dynamic production while incorporating Nyxen’s affliction for a retro aesthetic. Including early staples from her catalog like ‘Tunnels’ and ‘Nightmare’ in tandem with new hits like ‘Silence In Motion’ and ‘Fantasies’, PXNK is the soundtrack of Nyxen’s career thus far. Through layers of fuzzy guitar riffs and ethereal vocal effects, PXNK leaves its mark on her listeners with each and every track.

Describing the album, Nyxen said, “PXNK is an amalgamation of sounds and stories that have influenced my life. It’s about the contrast of discontent and hopefulness, the back and forth, the night and day. PXNK is the last few years of my life condensed into 41 minutes.”

Speaking about the song’s lyrics, Mia Ber explained “Speaking about the song’s lyrics, Mia Berg explained “Meadow is a song I wrote about the weight of carrying out other people’s struggles. It doesn’t need to be a romantic relationship, but also family and friends, or the ones close to you. It can feel like you’re standing on the sideline in your own life,  with the focus being on the person struggling. I wanted to paint a picture of that feeling -of being lost in someone else’s problems.”

Bluphoria share their major label debut single “Set Me Up” – a high-energy alternative rock song with blues and psych-rock influences that satisfyingly takes the listener on a journey from anger into a cathartic dance party.

Today’s release is the first sampling of Bluphoria’s forthcoming self-titled album, due out in 2023.

The band worked with GRAMMY® award-winning producer Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons, P!NK, Mt. Joy) at East Iris Studios in Berry Hill, as well as Needham’s personal Nashville studio.

“The second we stepped into the studio, we could feel the years of experience Mark brought to the table,” LaFreniere said. “He helped us be better musicians. We got locked in. Everyone was on the same page.”

I came up with this title thinking about my childhood and the things I used to see as a kid. I saw things dat I didn’t know were wrong until later on in life. Things that the older people around me made seem cool or ‘The way of life’ as I always looked at it. Dat made me realize dat I’m not the only kid who went through this, it’s kids goin’ through this right now and don’t even kno. I just want to show them that they are being misguided before it’s too late.”
