The live-action Powerpuff Girls trailer has been revealed online. The CW announced a Powerpuff Girls live-action series in 2020 in which they cast Chloe Bennett as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. In 2021 they shot the pilot, which never aired but now the trailer has been leaked online.
In this video we see Professor Utonium (Donald Faison) creating his superhero family, the Powerpuff Girls. They serve as the protectors of Townsville, but in the series they are also challenged with teenage problems as they age, including anxiety, stress, and alcoholism.
Production on the pilot began in April 2021. By May 2021, the CW scrapped the pilot but announced plans to retool the series. Not long after Bennett exited the series, with the series staying in development for the next two years before being officially canceled in May 2023.
