XO is a force-of-nature five-piece consisting of Emmy, Reanna, Shali, Summer, and Zoe. Their sound and spirit pay homage to the legendary lineage of top-tier British girlbands, but with a fresh, modern, and entirely inclusive twist. Imagine the unstoppable British energy of the Spice Girls, infused with influences from global pop icons like Tate McRae, and the new wave of all-choreo, all-conquering groups like K/DA and Blackpink. Yet, XO embrace a more raw, unapologetic approach to their pop, capturing the imperfect, fiery essence of youth and the journey of figuring out life as it comes. They perfectly embody that chaotic, authentic vibe, because, as they say, “we’re XO, and we’re probably the most chaotic girlband you’ve ever met in your life.”
They kick off their journey with ‘Lovesick,’ a bold statement track co-written with alt-pop stars Willow Kayne and GRACEY, produced by Gil Lewis. The song explores the fleeting symptoms of falling unexpectedly for someone—and the wild nights that follow (“I know it’s love / if it’s not I’m sick with something”). Combining punchy electropop beats, vibrant vocals, and an emotional chorus, ‘Lovesick’ speaks to universal themes of romance, friendship, sisterhood, and XO’s distinctly Gen Z take on Girl Power.
Hailing from Essex, London, Liverpool, Derbyshire, and Hong Kong, XO formed in autumn 2024 and are quickly building a dedicated fanbase. They recently released a behind-the-scenes visual for their DIY track ‘Ponytail,’ a standout from their recent school tour, where they proved their talent performing across the country. When asked about their hopes for ‘Lovesick’ and this opening chapter, each member’s response is as unique as they are united: Summer aims “to set the tone,” eager to stay present in the moment, while Zoe boldly declares, “World Domination.” With their energy and ambition, XO are poised to become the next top British girlband everyone’s been waiting for.
