Fans of Adam Sandler’s signature comedic style have a new project to anticipate, even if the actor himself isn’t appearing on screen. Sandler’s latest production, Roommates, is set to premiere on Netflix, and the platform has just announced the release date along with the first-look images. The global streaming debut is scheduled for April 17, 2026. Along with the announcement, Netflix shared initial photos that offer a sneak peek of the upcoming coming-of-age comedy.
One of the first images from Roommates features a lively, casual shot of the main characters. The photo shows stars Sadie Sandler and Chloe East taking a selfie with others, capturing a youthful, modern vibe that emphasizes friendship in the digital age. The official synopsis describes the film as: “When a hopeful, naive college freshman, Devon, asks the cool and confident Celeste to be her roommate, a blossoming friendship spirals into a war of passive aggression.” The project is directed by Chandler Levack, known for the critically acclaimed I Like Movies. The screenplay is written by Saturday Night Live writers Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara Jane O’Sullivan.
The cast extends beyond the two leads, featuring a mix of emerging talent and seasoned comedians. Notable cast members include Sarah Sherman, Josh Segarra, Carol Kane, Janeane Garofalo, Storm Reid, Bailee Madison, as well as Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll.
Although Adam Sandler won’t appear in the film himself, he serves as a producer. This project adds to his ongoing collaboration with Netflix, a partnership that began in 2015 and has yielded hits like Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween, and the recent Happy Gilmore 2.
With a talented new director and a cast filled with both familiar faces and newcomers, fans are eager to see Roommates when it premieres on Netflix next spring.
