A first look at Jon Bernthal’s return as Frank Castle in The Punisher: One Last Kill has been revealed.
Marvel Television recently dropped a midseason trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The series, created by showrunner Dario Scardapane, premiered on Disney+ last month, with new episodes continuing to be released each Tuesday until the season finale on May 5. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio return as Daredevil/Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively.
Although Bernthal played a significant role in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, he has yet to appear in Season 2. This is because Bernthal’s MCU character is set to star in his own television special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, which is scheduled for release in May, following the end of Season 2.
The midseason trailer for Daredevil: Born Again offers a brief tease of Frank Castle’s comeback. In the footage, a fully bearded Bernthal is seen pointing a gun at someone near the end. The synopsis for the Marvel’s Punisher special states, “As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”
Additional details about the project remain under wraps, but it’s known that Bernthal’s Punisher will also appear in Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day (also known as Spider-Man 4), set to release in July.
The Punisher: One Last Kill is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who co-wrote the script with Bernthal. Both serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Sana Amanat.
