A trailer for Motor City, an upcoming action film featuring Reacher’s Alan Ritchson, has been unveiled.
Set to hit theaters across the United States this summer, Motor City is produced by Independent Film Company. Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, the film stars Ritchson alongside Shailene Woodley and other notable actors. The teaser transports viewers to Detroit in the 1970s. Ritchson portrays a character who falls in love with a woman played by Woodley, but soon finds himself imprisoned for what appears to be an extended sentence. After his release, he sets out on a perilous quest for revenge. The official synopsis describes the film as follows: “In 1970s Detroit, a working-class romantic is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend. After years behind bars, he returns with a single goal: revenge. Packed with epic action, compelling performances, and striking visuals, Motor City delivers a relentless mix of brutal sequences, a powerful rock soundtrack, precise action choreography, and immersive sound design—creating a visceral, high-energy spectacle destined to captivate audiences this summer.”
In addition to Ritchson and Woodley, the cast includes Pablo Schreiber (Halo, Orange Is the New Black), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, Leave No Trace), and Ben McKenzie (Southland, Gotham).
The screenplay for Motor City was written by Chad St. John. Director Potsy Ponciroli made his feature film debut in 2021 with Old Henry, starring Tim Blake Nelson and Stephen Dorff. His second film, Greedy People (2024), is a crime comedy featuring an all-star cast including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Himesh Patel, Lily James, Nelson, Jim Gaffigan, and others. Motor City marks Ponciroli’s third feature film.
The film is set to be released on July 24, 2026.
