Disney has revealed plans to release an upcoming documentary about the legendary British band Oasis, scheduled to hit theaters later this year. The film, which explores the iconic band’s history and influence, is produced and developed by Steven Knight, renowned for his work on the acclaimed series Peaky Blinders.

The untitled Oasis documentary is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the duo behind notable music documentaries such as Meet Me in the Bathroom, which explores New York’s rock scene in the 2000s, and Shut Up and Play the Hits, about LCD Soundsystem. The film will premiere in select IMAX and standard cinemas worldwide for a limited engagement starting September 11, 2026. After its theatrical run, it will be available for streaming on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States later this year.

The documentary will chronicle Liam and Noel Gallagher’s reunion tour, Oasis Live ’25, which kicks off on July 4 in Cardiff and includes stops in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin during the European leg. A highlight of the film will be the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 25 years, marking a significant moment since their breakup in 2009.

Steven Knight expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film. I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people. I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, and countries, providing hope in a time of division.”

Eric Schrier, President of Direct-to-Consumer International Originals, Strategic Programming, and Emerging Media, highlighted the film’s significance, saying, “Opportunities like this are incredibly rare. The film is an intimate story of reconciliation, the power of music, and Oasis’ legacy as one of the most influential acts of all time. It’s a privilege to bring this extraordinary film to the big screen and to Disney+ subscribers around the world.”

Produced by Magna Studios and presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK, the documentary is produced by Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Kate Shepherd, Marisa Clifford, Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener, Isabel Davis, and Tim O’Shea. The technical team features Oscar-winning sound mixers James Mather (Top Gun: Maverick) and Tarn Willers (The Zone of Interest), alongside cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos (Beetlejuice).
