Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler unveiled exciting news about the future of the Creed universe during Amazon’s upfront presentation. The actor-producer and his frequent collaborator announced a new spin-off series that will take fans back to the origins of the franchise. Prime Video has officially ordered “Delphi,” the first live-action series expansion of the Creed universe.
Produced by Michael B.. Jordan’s Outlier Society, “Delphi” is a coming-of-age drama that Jordan announced at Amazon’s event. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles on May 18.
The series will focus on young boxers training at the Delphi gym, a familiar location from the Rocky and Creed films. The Delphi Boxing Academy, founded by Tony “Duke” Evers in Los Angeles, was the longtime training ground for Apollo Creed. Today, Duke’s son, Tony “Little Duke” Evers, runs the gym where Adonis Creed also trains. Marco Ramirez will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Jordan. Ramirez, known for creating and running Hulu’s boxing drama “La Maquina,” has also worked on “Daredevil,” “The Defenders,” and “Fear the Walking Dead.” Liz Raposo will also be an executive producer for Outlier Society, along with Winkler Films’ Irwin Winkler, David Winkler, and Charles Winkler.
Jordan is developing “Delphi” with his frequent collaborator, Ryan Coogler. During the event, Jordan shared how Coogler first approached him about playing Adonis Creed. Even before its premiere, the series was renewed for a second season.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, commented, “Showrunner Marco Ramirez and executive producer Michael B. Jordan are creating something exceptional for both longtime Creed fans and newcomers alike.”
“Delphi” will be available exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The studio has not announced a premiere date or cast yet. The Creed franchise has grossed more than $660 million globally across three films.
