Cate Blanchett and Selena Gomez are set to star in the highly anticipated next project by director Brady Corbet, alongside Michael Fassbender.
During a masterclass at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, Blanchett revealed that she is about to collaborate with Corbet on a new film. Confirming the news, Variety reports that Blanchett has been cast in Corbet’s upcoming feature, which also stars Gomez and Fassbender. Gomez’s involvement was previously reported by The Insider.
Details about the film remain under wraps, but Corbet has shared that he intends to make an “X-rated” film set primarily in the 1970s, with a storyline that spans from the 19th century to the present day. He described the project as “really, really genre-defying.” The film is also notable for being shot on rare eight-perf 65mm cameras, adding to its distinctive production style.
At the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin last month, Corbet hinted that the script would be lengthy, mentioning that it has around 200 pages—compared to “The Brutalist,” which had a 165-page script and a runtime of approximately three and a half hours.
The project is produced by Andrew Morrison through his Kaplan Morrison production company. This will be Corbet’s fourth feature, following “The Childhood of a Leader” (2015) and “Vox Lux” (2018).
