Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and Rudy Pankow, star of Outer Banks, have signed on to lead the upcoming film Thud. Directed by Mali Elfman (Next Exit), the movie is a supernatural romance that explores an unlikely love story between Death and the Devil.
The screenplay, penned by Noga Pnueli (Meet Cute), centers around a three-day destination wedding where the Grim Reaper and the Devil unexpectedly meet and fall in love after crossing paths amidst their plans to create chaos. The film promises a blend of dark humor and romance set against a vibrant backdrop.
Filming is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, supported by a California tax credit. The project is produced by Derek Bishé and David Grove Churchill Viste, with executive producers including Lindsay Helms and Joel Nevells of Helmstreet Productions, Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks from Divide/Conquer, along with Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin of Radio Silence, Dan Lawler, and Pnueli herself. Lisa Zagoria, known for casting Brothers and The Present, is handling casting for the film.
