A decade after captivating audiences with one of the most innovative performances in modern pop history, Sia’s groundbreaking Coachella set is set to reach a new generation of fans through a global theatrical release.

Trafalgar Releasing has announced that Sia: Nostalgic For The Present will arrive exclusively in select cinemas worldwide beginning July 23, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the acclaimed artist’s unforgettable 2016 main-stage Coachella performance. Tickets are now on sale through the film’s official website, with an official trailer also unveiled to mark the announcement.

More than a traditional concert film, Sia: Nostalgic For The Present has been described as a cinematic experience that blurs the lines between music, dance, theatre, and visual art. Featuring Sia’s powerhouse vocals, breathtaking choreography, and a collection of her biggest hits, the production offers audiences an immersive journey unlike anything typically seen in the concert film genre.

When the performance first debuted at Coachella in 2016, it immediately stood apart from conventional live shows. Rather than relying on large-scale pop spectacle, Sia crafted a carefully choreographed visual narrative that combined music with dramatic storytelling. The performance later became the blueprint for her worldwide tour, recreated night after night with remarkable precision.

Now, remastered for its tenth anniversary, the film allows audiences to experience the production as a standalone artistic work. The result is a striking visual masterpiece that continues to showcase Sia’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries and redefining the possibilities of live performance.

The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Maddie Ziegler, Kristen Wiig, Paul Dano, Ben Mendelsohn, Gaby Hoffmann, and Tig Notaro. Acclaimed choreographer Ryan Heffington, whose work became synonymous with Sia’s artistic identity during the era, delivers the stunning movement pieces that helped make the original production so memorable. The film is directed by Sia alongside longtime creative collaborator Daniel Askill.

Reflecting on the project, Askill described the experience as a unique creative achievement.

“Working with Sia on Nostalgic for the Present has been a dream,” he said. “Her music and her emotional instincts opened space for something that doesn’t exist anywhere else at the intersection of performance, music, and film — and we were blessed to bring it to life with extraordinary collaborators on both sides of the camera.”

Sia also looked back fondly on the ambitious production and the team that helped bring it to life.

“Working with some of the greatest artists of our time was a thrilling, tremendous journey that I would take over and over again, if given the opportunity,” she said. “I am humbled by the talent of everyone involved and so grateful for the experience. I am nostalgic for the present.”

For Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby, the film’s return to cinemas is an opportunity to celebrate a cultural moment that remains as impactful today as it was ten years ago.

“Sia’s Coachella performance is exactly the kind of cultural moment that belongs on the big screen,” Allenby said. “From the powerful vocals to the mesmerizing visuals, we are proud to celebrate its tenth anniversary by presenting the unmatched spectacle of the film as a collective experience for her fans.”

As audiences prepare to revisit one of the most ambitious live performances of the last decade, Sia: Nostalgic For The Present promises to remind viewers why Sia remains one of music’s most daring and visionary artists. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, the theatrical event offers a rare chance to experience a landmark moment in contemporary music history as it was always meant to be seen — on the big screen.
