Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit Stillwater, a horror drama series created by Greg Berlanti (You, The Flight Attendant) and Carly Wray (Watchmen, Westworld). Based on the Skybound graphic novel by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez, the show has received an eight-episode order. The project is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Skybound Entertainment, the company behind The Walking Dead.
Co-written by Berlanti and Wray, both of whom are under overall deals at Warner Bros. Television, Stillwater is described as a mind-bending horror thriller centered around former convict Daniel West. When Daniel receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a significant inheritance in the small town of Stillwater, he uncovers a community where nothing ages, no one dies, and escape seems impossible.
Berlanti and Wray expressed their excitement about the series: “We’re thrilled to dive into Stillwater because it’s far beyond the usual immortality story. It’s a horror show about a community that must decide what forever is worth—and what they’re willing to do to protect it. Chip Zdarsky & Ramón K. Pérez created an extraordinary world that’s both terrifying and deeply human. We’re grateful to Amazon, WBTV, and Skybound for trusting us to bring this beloved story to life. We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to meet Daniel West and the eerie townsfolk awaiting him.”
Amazon secured the series after a bidding war in spring 2025, with a straight-to-series order contingent upon delivering a pilot script and a season bible. After a year of development based on that material, the project has been officially approved for production.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Wray serves as an executive producer alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Robbie Rogers for Berlanti Productions, with Skybound Entertainment’s Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, and Chip Zdarsky also executive producing. Former Berlanti Productions executive Jonathan Gabay is involved as an executive producer.
