Netflix has released the teaser trailer for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s controversial true-crime anthology series. The upcoming season stars Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, alongside Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd, and Jessica Barden.
Set to premiere on Netflix on September 17, 2026, the series revisits the infamous 1892 case of Lizzie Borden, a Massachusetts woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother. Rather than simply recounting the crime, the new season explores the circumstances and psychological pressures that may have contributed to the shocking violence.
The teaser offers a disturbing glimpse into Lizzie’s life, portraying her covered in blood as she attacks her father and stepmother with an axe. Charlie Hunnam plays her father, while Rebecca Hall portrays her stepmother. The brutal imagery emphasizes the shocking nature of the murders that made the Borden case one of the most notorious criminal cases in American history.
The series also delves into Lizzie’s life before the murders. Coming from a wealthy New England family and working as a Sunday School teacher, she appears outwardly respectable.
