Nathan Fielder has finally pulled back the curtain on a project he has been quietly developing for years.
The comedian and filmmaker has teamed with documentary director Lance Oppenheim for You Can See Everything, a new documentary centred on Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced founder of Theranos. The film was unveiled as the surprise secret screening at the 2026 Telluride Film Festival, bringing an end to months of speculation surrounding the mysterious project.
Produced by A24, You Can See Everything takes an unconventional look at Holmes, whose rise and spectacular downfall became one of Silicon Valley’s most notorious stories. Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors through Theranos and is currently serving a federal prison sentence.
According to the film’s premise, the documentary begins 34 days before Holmes was due to report to prison. At that point, she invited a film crew to document her life, initially resulting in what appeared to be an intimate portrait of the controversial entrepreneur.
However, the project reportedly evolved into something much larger. What began as a short-term documentary ultimately became a three-year filmmaking journey, with Fielder and Oppenheim continuing to explore Holmes and the circumstances surrounding her downfall.
Fielder’s involvement makes the documentary particularly intriguing. He is best known for his boundary-pushing comedy series Nathan For You and HBO’s The Rehearsal, both of which blur the lines between documentary, performance and reality. Oppenheim, meanwhile, has established himself as an acclaimed documentary filmmaker with projects including Some Kind of Heaven and Primetime.
The first teaser for You Can See Everything offers a glimpse at the unusual dynamic between Fielder and Holmes. In the footage, Holmes insists that she has nothing to hide and argues that she is not attempting to deceive the filmmakers. Fielder’s response is noticeably more sceptical, setting up what could be a fascinating battle of perspectives at the heart of the film.
The decision to keep the project secret appears to have been deliberate. Although rumours about Fielder working on an Elizabeth Holmes documentary had circulated, neither the filmmaker nor A24 publicly confirmed the project until its surprise Telluride premiere.
That secrecy made the film one of the festival’s biggest surprises, with audiences discovering its identity only when it screened.
Now that the secret is out, A24 is preparing to bring You Can See Everything to cinemas in October 2026. A specific theatrical release date has yet to be announced.
Given Fielder’s history of turning real-life situations into increasingly strange and unpredictable filmmaking experiments, You Can See Everything could offer a very different perspective on the Elizabeth Holmes story — one that goes beyond the familiar headlines and asks what happens when a filmmaker is given unprecedented access to someone who has already become a cultural symbol of corporate deception.
