Prime Video is getting ready to take viewers inside the remarkable life and career of former NFL star DeSean Jackson with the upcoming documentary Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story.
The feature-length documentary will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on September 24, 2026, with the release scheduled across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Directed by Mandon Lovett, the film is executive produced by filmmaker Adam McKay alongside Todd Schulman, Byron Jackson, DeSean Jackson and J.M. Harper. Prime Video has also unveiled the official trailer, offering a preview of the deeply personal story behind Jackson’s rise to NFL stardom.
Rather than simply focusing on Jackson’s achievements on the football field, Go Deep takes an intimate look at the family, sacrifices and pressures that shaped his journey.
The documentary is built around thousands of hours of home-video footage captured over a period of 35 years by Jackson’s older brother, Byron. A former football player who spent time on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, Byron eventually turned his attention to filmmaking and began documenting his younger brother’s development from his earliest days playing Pop Warner football.
That footage follows DeSean through high school and college before ultimately capturing his rise to the NFL.
Jackson established himself as one of football’s most explosive playmakers after winning a state championship with Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 2004 and becoming an All-American at the University of California, Berkeley.
He would go on to enjoy a 15-season NFL career, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams. He finished his career with 641 receptions and 66 touchdowns, including four punt-return touchdowns.
The film also promises to explore the more complicated side of Jackson’s story. His father, Bill Jackson, believed football could provide a better future for his family and pushed his sons toward success, but that ambition also resulted in tension and difficult moments within the family.
Those personal experiences sit alongside the highs and lows of Jackson’s professional career, giving the documentary a perspective that goes beyond conventional sports storytelling.
Jackson is now entering another chapter of his football journey as head coach of the Delaware State Hornets, making Go Deep particularly timely as it looks back at how his life in the sport began and how it continues to evolve.
With unprecedented access to personal footage spanning decades, Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story looks set to offer an unusually intimate portrait of an NFL star, his family and the sacrifices behind his success.
