Kid Cudi is expanding his filmmaking career with Wrong Number, a new horror thriller that will see the rapper and actor take on multiple roles behind and in front of the camera.
Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, is writing, directing, scoring and starring in the upcoming feature, which is currently filming in Los Angeles. He will star opposite Barbie Ferreira, with the film marking his second directorial feature.
Wrong Number centres on Ibn, a lonely self-help author whose life takes a disturbing turn after he becomes romantically involved with Eliza, played by Ferreira. What begins as a relationship soon develops into a nightmare as Ibn finds himself targeted by an unknown stalker and becomes the prime suspect in a series of murders.
The cast also includes Clifton Powell, Lucy Barrett, Dewayne Perkins and Laura Harrier.
Cudi has previously spoken about his love of the horror genre, making Wrong Number an opportunity for him to explore that passion through an original story. The filmmaker has described the project as a horror thriller packed with the elements of a wild and bloody ride.
The movie follows Cudi’s upcoming directorial debut Doe, an addiction drama that has yet to be released. Alongside his work behind the camera, Cudi has continued building an acting résumé that includes appearances in Happy Gilmore 2, Trap and Silent Night.
For Ferreira, Wrong Number adds another genre project to her growing filmography following roles in Jordan Peele’s Nope and House of Gucci, as well as her breakout performance as Kat Hernandez in Euphoria.
With Cudi handling the script, direction and score while taking on the lead role, Wrong Number promises to be a particularly personal filmmaking project. The horror thriller is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2027.
