Sam Worthington (Avatar), Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), and Cara Delevingne (Club Kid) are set to lead the cast of Paul Schrader’s upcoming erotic thriller Non Compos Mentis.
Production on the film is scheduled to begin next month in New York. Schrader, who is an Oscar nominee, has written and will direct the project, with additional casting currently being finalized.
The film’s title, Non Compos Mentis, is a Latin phrase meaning “of unsound mind,” hinting at the psychological tensions at the heart of the story.
The thriller follows two privileged brothers as they deal with their mother’s declining health and battle over control of their family’s future. One is a polished New York defense attorney, while the other is a hard-edged corporate heir.
Their already complicated relationship is thrown into turmoil when the attorney becomes involved in an intense affair with a younger woman. The relationship sets off a volatile love triangle fueled by obsession and betrayal, ultimately escalating into a ruthless struggle for control of the family fortune.
With Schrader behind the camera and a cast featuring Worthington, Hemsworth and Delevingne, Non Compos Mentis is shaping up to be a dark and provocative addition to the filmmaker’s body of work.
