A24 has unleashed a chilling new promo for Slayground, the mysterious horror thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier, giving audiences a disturbing glimpse inside a haunted attraction where the night quickly turns into a fight for survival.
The filmmaker behind Blue Ruin, Green Room and Rebel Ridge is returning to darker territory with Slayground, a project that has been shrouded in secrecy since it was first announced under the title October.
The new promo deliberately plays like footage from an actual haunted-house attraction. Security cameras capture terrified visitors running through cramped corridors as masked figures armed with axes pursue them. Other unsettling images include disturbing experimental equipment and a severed head connected to what appears to be an electrical device.
Rather than revealing a traditional plot, the footage embraces mystery, ending with the ominous message that A24 is inviting audiences to an experience they will never forget.
The campaign directs viewers to RunLikeHell.com, where additional security-camera footage expands on the unsettling world of the film. The website also features a countdown pointing towards October 20, 2026, although exactly what A24 has planned for that date remains unclear.
Adding to the intrigue, A24 has yet to release an official synopsis for Slayground. Previous reports have suggested that the film could involve a fugitive hiding within a haunted attraction while attempting to escape a massive manhunt, with comparisons being made to The Fugitive. However, those details have not been officially confirmed.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast led by Cory Michael Smith, alongside Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Imogen Poots, Matty Matheson, Young Mazino, Stephen Root and James Badge Dale. Macon Blair, a frequent collaborator of Saulnier’s, has also been involved with the project.
Interestingly, audiences were first given a surprise taste of Slayground during theatrical screenings of Resident Evil, with the mysterious teaser initially playing exclusively in cinemas before A24 expanded the campaign online.
With Saulnier at the helm and A24 continuing to keep the film’s story largely hidden, Slayground is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing horror mysteries of the year.
