Paramount Television Studios is in the process of developing a television adaptation of Keith Rosson’s horror novel Coffin Moon, with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean producing through their first-look deal with the studio. The project will be developed, adapted, and showrun by acclaimed writers and producers Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, known for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Painkiller. Rosson will serve as a consulting producer on the series.
Set during a harsh winter in 1975 Oregon, Coffin Moon follows a veteran and his adopted niece as they hunt—and are hunted by—a vampire responsible for their family’s slaughter. The announcement coincides with the paperback release of Coffin Moon by Random House, which debuted last September. Inspired by Charles Portis’s novel True Grit, Rosson’s novel has garnered attention, adding to his body of work that includes seven novels such as Crone, Fever House, and The Devil by Name. Rosson is represented by UTA and Janklow & Nesbit.
This project marks the latest collaboration between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean, following the development of the spy thriller The Ambler Warning, based on Robert Ludlum’s bestseller. Jessica Biel is set to star in and executive produce The Ambler Warning, which was announced by Deadline last October.
