Marvel Studios has released a new teaser for VisionQuest, and this time the spotlight is firmly on Tommy Maximoff — a character whose complicated history could become one of the emotional centres of the upcoming Disney+ series.
The new footage gives fans a closer look at Ruaridh Mollica’s Tommy, who is also known as Thomas Shepherd. During the teaser, Tommy finds himself in police custody undergoing a psychological evaluation as he struggles to understand memories from two very different lives.
“How could I have two lives?” Tommy asks, highlighting the mystery surrounding his identity.
Tommy and his twin brother Billy were originally introduced in WandaVision as the magically created children of Wanda Maximoff. When Wanda eventually dismantled the Westview Hex, the boys seemingly disappeared along with the reality that had created them.
However, their stories did not end there.
Agatha All Along revealed that Billy’s consciousness had survived and taken over the body of Billy Kaplan. The series also established that Tommy’s soul had found its way into the body of Thomas Shepherd, a teenager who had recently drowned.
Now, VisionQuest appears ready to explore what happens when Tommy begins remembering both versions of his existence.
The new teaser also connects Tommy’s story back to Agatha All Along, with Billy and Agatha seen witnessing the drowning of the boy whose body would eventually become Tommy’s new home. The footage raises an intriguing question: how much of Tommy Maximoff remains within Thomas Shepherd?
For Vision, the discovery could be even more significant.
Paul Bettany returns as White Vision, the rebuilt version of the character whose memories were restored at the conclusion of WandaVision. The new series will see Vision searching for answers about his identity while confronting the possibility that his son has somehow survived.
Adding another major complication to Vision’s journey is the return of Ultron, with James Spader once again providing the voice of the villainous artificial intelligence. The character has a deeply personal connection to Vision, making his involvement particularly intriguing as the series explores questions surrounding artificial intelligence, identity and family.
The series will also feature several familiar AI personalities, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H., further expanding the technological side of the MCU.
VisionQuest serves as the concluding chapter of the television trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. The series will therefore have the difficult task of bringing together several storylines that have been developing across Marvel’s Disney+ universe for years.
The eight-episode series will premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with the first two episodes arriving together. Two further episodes will follow on October 21 and October 28, before the final two episodes arrive individually on November 4 and November 11.
With Tommy now questioning which of his two lives truly belongs to him, VisionQuest looks set to take the MCU’s exploration of identity and family into some fascinating territory. And with Vision, Tommy and Ultron all seemingly connected by the same mystery, Marvel may have one more major surprise waiting when the series finally arrives.
