Editorial Standards & Disclosure Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

OutLoud! Culture (OLC!) has covered music, movies, TV and pop culture for fans around the world since 2015. This page explains how we decide what to cover, how we label anything that’s paid, and how to reach us when we get something wrong.

Who we are

OLC! is an independent publication. Our editorial team is led by Edhuard Hakim, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, and Neill Frazer, Managing Editor. Every article runs under the name of the writer who wrote it, and you can find our team on our About Us page.

Our independence

Our editors decide what we cover and what we say about it. Advertisers, sponsors, artists, labels, publicists and affiliate partners never get to approve our opinions or our wording.

When we sell something, we sell guaranteed consideration (our Fast Track Review) or guaranteed coverage of a described type (like a Spotlight, Interview or Premiere). We never sell an opinion.

What is never for sale

These stay 100% editorial, always:

  • The Review verdicts and scores
  • Artist of the Week! picks
  • Where Are They Now? subject choices
  • Positive opinions of any kind
  • Spotify playlist adds
  • “Dofollow” links

Paid items in The Hit List only ever appear in a clearly labeled “Sponsored pick” slot.

How we label paid and affiliate content

If money changed hands, you’ll know before you start reading. Paid posts carry a label above the headline, a badge on article cards across the site, and a disclosure box at the top of the article.

  • Sponsored: a brand paid for the content, either supplied by them and edited to our style, or written by us. Payment never buys a positive opinion, a score or approval of our wording.
  • Paid feature: an artist or their team paid for guaranteed coverage through our submission packages. The same rule applies: payment never buys a positive opinion, a score or approval of our wording.
  • Presented by [Brand] · Sponsored: a brand sponsors one of our series for a set period. “Presented by” never appears without the word “Sponsored.” OLC! chooses every subject and keeps full editorial control. Sponsors may only check facts about themselves.
  • Affiliate links: the post contains links that may earn us a commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Every link in sponsored, paid or presented-by content, and every affiliate link, is marked rel=”sponsored” so search engines know it’s a paid link.

On social media, paid posts use each platform’s Paid partnership or branded-content label where one exists, and we disclose clearly in the post where it doesn’t.

What paid content we accept

We only accept sponsored content that fits our audience: music, film, TV, pop culture, fashion and beauty. We turn down casino, loan, CBD and similar advertising. We may decline any paid content that doesn’t meet our standards.

Ads

We run display ads to support the site. Ads are kept separate from our articles, and advertisers have no say in what we write.

Sourcing and accuracy

  • We check facts before we publish and link to original sources where we can.
  • Interviews are with the real people named, and quotes reflect what they told us.
  • We use licensed, press-kit or properly credited images.
  • Studios, labels and publicists sometimes send us screeners, advance music or event passes so we can review them. That never guarantees coverage or a positive review.

How we use AI

Our human editors and writers write and approve everything we publish. Opinions, reviews and verdicts always come from the person named on the byline.

Corrections

We make mistakes sometimes, and we’d rather fix them than hide them. If you spot an error, email info@outloudculture.com with the article link and what needs fixing. When we correct a factual error, we update the article and add a short note saying what changed. We don’t quietly rewrite reviews or opinions after publication.
