Prime Video has released the official trailer for Terrell & T.O., a feature-length documentary exploring the life, career and complicated legacy of NFL legend Terrell Owens. Arriving November 5, 2026, the film promises an intimate look at the athlete behind the headlines, charting his rise to football stardom, the controversies that followed him throughout his career and his ongoing personal evolution.
Known for his extraordinary athletic ability and outspoken personality, Owens became one of the most recognisable figures in professional American football. While his achievements on the field earned him a place among the sport’s elite, his public feuds, locker-room conflicts and attention-grabbing celebrations frequently made him a divisive figure.
Terrell & T.O. aims to explore both sides of that legacy, examining how Owens challenged conventional expectations of professional athletes and helped reshape the relationship between individual expression and team culture.
Inside Terrell Owens’ Rise to NFL Stardom
Selected in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Owens went on to establish himself as one of the most accomplished wide receivers in NFL history. His combination of physical dominance, competitive intensity and theatrical flair made him a standout performer, while his personality ensured he remained a constant presence in sports headlines.
The documentary traces his journey from childhood through his professional achievements and eventual induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Beyond his on-field success, the film revisits the controversies and media scrutiny that shaped public perceptions of Owens, offering an opportunity to reconsider the man behind his larger-than-life reputation.
The story also extends beyond football, exploring Owens’ family relationships, personal challenges and reflections on the experiences that defined his career. Through present-day conversations, the documentary follows the former NFL star as he considers his past and looks towards a new chapter in his life.
An All-Star Lineup of Interviews
The documentary features interviews with Owens himself, alongside former teammates, coaches, journalists and people from his personal life who offer different perspectives on his journey.
Among those appearing are Pro Football Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice, former quarterbacks Jeff Garcia and Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
Former Eagles players Isaiah “Ike” Reese and Freddie Mitchell also contribute, alongside journalists Jemele Hill and Skip Bayless. Their perspectives help examine Owens’ impact on the game, his complicated relationships within the NFL and the public narrative that followed him throughout his career.
By bringing together voices from different stages of Owens’ professional life, Terrell & T.O. looks to provide a broader understanding of an athlete whose influence extended beyond the statistics and records.
