Following the success of Blumhouse and Focus Features’ global box office hit Obsession, Cooper Tomlinson has secured his next major feature role in the upcoming mystery-thriller Seeker. He will star alongside Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Mika Abdalla (Off Campus).

Directed by Adam Rehmeier (Carolina Caroline), the film is based on an original screenplay by Michael Learner. First announced six weeks ago, Seeker is now shaping up to be one of the notable genre titles available for international buyers at next week’s American Film Market (AFM).

The story centers on Grant (Tomlinson), a man still haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, Caroline (Abdalla), five years earlier. Now working as a ride-share driver, Grant’s life takes an unexpected turn when he picks up a passenger he believes is connected to her disappearance. What begins as a tense psychological game of cat-and-mouse soon descends into something much darker and more disturbing, forcing Grant to question everything he thought he knew.

Production is scheduled to begin in January 2027 in Washington State, with additional casting currently underway. The project is fully financed by Hammerstone Studios and Script 2 Screen. International sales are being handled by north.five.six., while CAA Media Finance is representing the U.S. distribution rights.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of producers, including Alex Lebovici and Michael Learner for Hammerstone Studios (Barbarian), Oscar winner Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries (The Menu), and Noah Centineo and Enzo Marc for Arkhum Productions, which is currently developing Gundam.

Executive producers include Samuel Hall and Warren Goz for north.five.six. (By Any Means), alongside Ibrahim Mohammed (Silent Night, Deadly Night), Yasmyne Mohammed (By Any Means), and Chase Vergari (By Any Means).

The three actors attached to Seeker are each experiencing significant career momentum.

Tomlinson is also set to appear in Anything But Ghosts, a Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Spooky Pictures, and Focus Features production. He co-wrote the film with longtime creative collaborator Curry Barker, who also directs. Tomlinson stars alongside Barker, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Aaron Paul in the project, which is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2027.

Meanwhile, Rothe is preparing for the release of River, a Universal Pictures and Blumhouse thriller acquired following its buzzworthy appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). She stars opposite Jane Levy, with the film scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 15, 2027. Rothe remains widely recognized for her leading role in Universal and Blumhouse’s successful horror franchise Happy Death Day.

Abdalla has also been building an impressive profile following her breakout performance in Prime Video’s hit series Off Campus. Premiering in May, the series became one of Amazon Prime Video’s most-watched debuts of all time, attracting more than 36 million viewers within its first 12 days. Based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series, the show has completed production on its second season, with Abdalla continuing in the lead role.

Her previous credits also include the comedy Snack Shack, directed by Rehmeier and produced by Rian Johnson’s T-Street.

With a promising cast, an experienced production team, and a compelling mystery at its center, Seeker is shaping up to be an intriguing addition to the upcoming slate of psychological thrillers.
