Chris Pratt is gearing up to reprise his role as Lieutenant Commander James Reece as Amazon continues expanding its popular The Terminal List franchise with an adaptation of Jack Carr’s bestselling novel Savage Son.
The upcoming project marks the latest chapter in the military thriller universe, although it remains unclear whether Savage Son will be developed as a standalone season, similar to the prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, or serve as the third season of the flagship series.
First premiering in 2022, The Terminal List introduced audiences to Reece, a former Navy SEAL seeking answers and revenge after a devastating mission. Its second season, based on Carr’s follow-up novel True Believer, continues the story, while Savage Son serves as the third installment in the author’s book series.
In Savage Son, Reece faces what could be his most personal and dangerous mission yet. The story centers on a rogue CIA officer who has taken refuge with the Russian mafia and is plotting to assassinate Reece.
At the same time, Reece is recovering from brain surgery in the Montana wilderness, reconnecting with his roots and attempting to rebuild his life. He receives support from investigative journalist Katie Buranek, played by Constance Wu, and his longtime friend and former SEAL teammate Raife Hastings, portrayed by Tom Hopper.
However, Reece’s recovery is short-lived when he discovers that an unidentified figure within the U.S. government has been compromised by Russian intelligence. With national security at stake and the threat growing closer, he assembles a team of former commandos to take the fight directly to the Russian mafia on its home ground.
As the mission unfolds, Reece and his team turn the tables on their enemies, transforming the hunters into the hunted.
With Pratt returning to one of his most recognizable action roles, Savage Son promises another intense chapter filled with espionage, military action and the relentless pursuit of justice.
