THE HIT LIST

‘The Hit List’ : Connor Maynard, Nicki Minaj, Martin Garrix, Khalid, Thirty Seconds To Mars And More…

We’re back with a new ‘Hit List’, new music from some of the best artists right now and songs that will be blowing up your charts. If you have anything you wanna hear on the list send them through to me at neillfrazer@hotmail.com, I’d love to hear them. Lets kick this thing off….

R3hab & Connor Maynard – “Hold On Tight”: Fans of EDM rejoice because R3HAB is back, and continues to evolve like he has since the early 2010’s. R3HAB has proved himself adaptable,  continuing to remain in a place of attention grabbing singles and hit remixes. Just last year he released his debut LP, “Trouble” and currently ranks as the 133rd most streamed artist on Spotify. Now R3HAB returns to uphold his position with his latest offering “Hold On Tight”, a lush future dance hit featuring UK vocalist Connor Maynard. I love this song and I’m sure you will to.

Martin Garrix & Khalid – “Ocean”: Martin Garrix has been making a name for himself in the world of pop music and really gained traction last year, with his song “Scared To Be Lonely”. Now his hit singles continue to keep the ball rolling as he teams up with R&B singer Khalid on the track “Ocean”. It’s a heartfelt ballad perfectly suited for Khalid’s soulful range. He gives us falsetto tenderness over the slow burn beat Garrix produced. It’s all dark blues and rainy days. Put this on when you’re missing the one you love, feeling the distance but realizing it can’t tear you apart. Expect to hear this song making waves on a radio near you.

Khalid, 6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign – “OTW”: “OTW” which stands for “On The Way” is the latest song recorded by American singers Khalid, Ty Dolla Sign and 6lack. The artists co-wrote the song with Brian Alexander Morgan, Idan Kalai and its producer Nineteen85. It’s dark yet melodic, and features a very smooth silky 90’s influence, but gives it a modern feel with a trap infused beat. The three singers about a “booty call” and meeting up with a love interest. Such a great song to bring R&B back.

Nicki Minaj (feat. Ariana Grande) – “Bed”: It won’t be long before Nicki Minaj releases her new album “Queen”, but in the mean time she’s teamed up with pop artist Ariana Grande to gives us her latest offering from it simply called “Bed”. The new single is a bouncy pop influenced track, and one of the first pop-laced singles we’ve heard off of “Queen”. It’s similar to the sounds we recieved from her past album “Pink Friday”, which I have to say was brilliant. So far what we’ve heard of the new album, it’s been a combination of club-ready pop and hardcore hip hop. “Bed” is out now.

Witt Lowry (feat. Ava Max) – “Into Your Arms”: Witt Lowry may have graduated with a degree in graphic design, but it wasn’t until he decided to rap for a career that he found his true passion. Born Mark Laurence Richard, Jr. he chose his stage name as a combination of the word “witty” and a spin on his middle name. At the heart of his music, he focuses on a hopeful message and indie D.I.Y. spirit reflected that of Macklemore. If this song is anything to go by we can expect big things from the rapper.

Aurora – “Queendom”: Norwegian singer-songwriter is set to release the highly anticipated follow-up to her acclaimed 2016 debut ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend’ later this year. But in the meantime she’s serving up the first single off it entitled “Queendom”. She is also earning a devoted cult of fans and racking up millions of views on YouTube for her single, positive signs that it won’t be long before we hear Aurora popping up on the radio soon. In an interview with NME the singer spoke about the single saying “I think it represents a really important message, my new album has a wider perspective than I had on my first one. The world has a lot of good and bad in it, but as I say in the first verse of ‘Queendom’, ‘the underdogs are my lions, the silent ones are choir – the women will be my soldiers, the weight of life on their shoulders’. But it’s also for men, the planets and everything. It’s a very important start of my new chapter.”

Thirty Seconds To Mars – “Rescue Me”: It wasn’t long ago Thirty Seconds To Mars were smashing out hit singles and recently they unveiled the music video for “Rescue Me,” featuring a montage of people expressing various emotions in tight close-up shots. The song appears on their fifth album “America”, which was released in April. In a statement about the song Jared Leto said “It’s a song about the brutal war so many of us wage against fear, depression and anxiety in the hope that we might, one day, live a life filled with happiness and dreams.” This song may be what the band needs to get them back on the charts.

Cash Cash (feat. ABIR) – “Finest Hour”: This will no doubt be song of the summer I can guarantee. EDM production trio Cash Cash have a knack for infusing any song they work on with an infectious dance energy. They have previously collaborated with pop artists like Bebe Rexha, Conor Mayard, ROZES, and Dashboard Confessional, and now singer ABIR with her R&B-infused pop vocals delivered with intimacy. “Finest Hour” gives us ABIR’s powerful Sia-esque vocals over Cash Cash’s characteristic booming synth. Such a great song and it’s available now.
